Default Disturbing story on lunch????

This story really disturbs me. Is this the result of Lady Obama's incursion into our children's lives?

We really now have the State inspecting our children's home-packed lunch and determining if the food therein is up to the standards of the State??

The government forcing children to eat State prepared food and implicitly telling them their lunch packed by their parent is no good?

I'm a bit outraged by this story. Can you tell?

Richie

"Outrage" is probably not even strong enough express my feelings about this.

My granddaughter is in the Pre-K program here in Woodtock, Ga. and takes her own lunches as well as her own supply of soy milk which they keep on hand for her because my son and DIL don't want her to have all of the hormones which are found in cow's milk today. She would be extremely traumatized if forced to eat what she didn't want to eat!

And what disturbed me further about the story was that several of the people who posted comments thought that this was = to a tempest in a teapot and that we had bigger things to worry about. Really? Chip. Chip. Chip! I wish that The Tea Party hadn't all ready used that phrase because a real one is surely needed!

This makes me so angry that I can't even comment on it.

What about the ones that have nothing but candy and soda in their lunch bag.

Why don't we just let them get fat and sick?

Maybe they cannot afford the school lunches. Or maybe the cafeteria food sucks.

I used to bring lunch when I worked. My leftover lunches from home were often better than the choices they had at work.

Exactly, that's the kind of thing that starts this heavy handed proceedure to inspect lunches. If all parents had a brain, it likely wouldn't have come to this. Glen Beck once said something to this effect: "When the people can't or won't do the right thing for themselves, government will eventually do it for them." That's how we got Social Security.

It's easy to get outraged by what others are trying to do to solve the epidemic of overweight and obese kids, but I would like to hear about any effective program or solution that has been put forward by Republicans. Anything other than telling kids to get up off their lazy butts and exercise? That's all we have and it's not enough.

We want the freedom to do whatever we feel like doing but when the hoards of overweight and obese get diabetes and countless other degenerative diseases, who's going to pay for it?

That's why I predicted, (on another website) about 9 years ago, that we would eventually get nationalized health care. I said: "It's just a matter of time." When you end up with a majority of people who are overweight and sick, and unable to afford health care, they will demand "free" health care.

Obesity and diabetes are at almost epidemic stages. They are hurting our country in many ways and costing you and me billions of dollars and having a crippling effect on our economy. We are a nation of fat pigs. We eat toomuch,we consume to much. Parenting in this country is a joke. Do whatever it takes to break the cycle. Check lunches, charge for healthcare by the pound, embarrass parents. I have no pity or feelings of sorrow.

Comrades Comrades common down the State knows best.

Actually we have a society of helicopters parents who are a result of listening to stupid experts for decades. Parents have been exposed to fears of safety, etc. so that kids can't climb trees anymore or stray too far from their homes. Kids are not allowed to fight on the playgrounds, etc. Over reactions by parents have inadertently ended up with kids being corraled in their houses.

Yes I agree that there are dangers out there and there are kids bullied beyond a point of what is acceptable but sociey is over reacting

You must be kidding. "Embarrass parents"??, when it is your feel-good psychology bunch on the left that has indoctrinated several generations now to believe that SELF ESTEEM must never be lowered, and it must be hallowed and protected at all cost......

....while they have killed the idea that "Self Respect" comes from earning it by behaving "respectably" and responsibly.

I read both links and Mrs. Obama was NOT mentioned in either. As far as I know the First Lady doesn't have much to do with Federal Regulations.

Don't like the food police but it is no reason to bash the First Lady.

I appreciate your concern but I am curious as to just how far you believe the government should go to elimnate this obesity, etc that you reference?

As I stated in another post on this thread the problem is helicopter parents who believe and look to the government to eliminate all risk in our lives. Risk can never be eliminated and in fact daling with risk can be rewarding.

How are Chicken Nuggets more nutritious than a Turkey Sandwich? It is being reported that is what the student had in her lunch from home and it was replaced with Chicken Nuggeets. Always thought turkey was one of the healthiest food items. I guess it must have had too much Mayo on it. Tsk! Tsk!!
