Default Flags Lowered For Whitney Houston

I think Whitney Houston was a great singer but I think the Governor of NJ made a mistake when he declared that all flags will be at half mast in honor of her passing. I always equated flags at half mast to honor someone who did something special for this country like a military person who dies for his country or the people who died on 911. Being a great singer ....well I don't get it and I don't think it's right. Just wondering if it is just me who thinks this way.

I completely do not understand why we are honoring a wonderful singer, who lived and raised a child in an abusive home, was an addict, and died very likely from an overdose. Frankly, she was an incredibly poor role model for her child and all other young people.

I don't like it....... and I get it:

Hollywood runs this superficial society to get all eyes turned onto IT, while people of substance who sacrifice for our nation's freedoms are disregarded.

Another politician pandering to voters and showing disrespect to those who deserve the honor . Sadly, it's not new.

NJ Assembly AND Senate will - or maybe already have - passed the same sex marriage bill - which Christie has said doesn't matter because he will veto it.

Flying the flag as half mast for Houston is just another Republican governor pandering for votes.

The real question is, why is anyone surprised?

Same sex marriage and honoring a drug addict are not in the same category. JMHO

Why must it be either or.... ? EITHER we honor vets OR we honor Whitney Houston.... Let's not judge her - it's not our job...

We can be thankful for the brave men and women who died in the line of duty AND we can be sad for the loss of one of the most beautiful voices of our time...

Default Wh is it an either, or?

New York City will not honor the vets in the war but will give a parade for the winning team in the Superbowl.

Lower the flag for a celeb? We might as well just fly them at half mast for every celeb!

This isn't about Whitney, this is about priorities! We now look up to people who's jobs are to sing and play games and ignore the people who are fighting for us.

Yes...Why is it an either, or? I ask the same question.
