Default Reaction to Gov. Christie's Calling Navy Vet Idiot.

What do you think about the way Gov. Christie talked to the law student/vet at the Town Hall meeting? Too tough or spot on?

SPOT ON....politics aside..and I mean that. And it looked like he said "idiot" sort of to himself and after the guy was led out.

This from the Daily News which I will link but paste the pertinent parts....man tried to answer his question TWICE but kept being interrupted....

"Christie began to explain the plan, when Brown shouted "what about my son? What about my neighbors? What about my friends?"

That's when Christie became slightly agitated, but continued his explanation. When Brown, a Democrat who ran unsuccessfully for the State Assembly last year, interrupted again, the governor became irate.

Eventually, Brown was escorted from the meeting by police.

"Let me tell you something, after you graduate from law school, you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end is going to be thrown in jail, idiot," Christie shouted as Brown was led away.

Sounds to me like the guy was an idiot.

He got the opportunity to ask the Governor a question, but he really didn't want an answer. He just wanted to vent and yell at Gov. Christie. Sounds like an idiot me, and the fact that he was a veteran was irrelevant.

An idiot is a mentally handicapped person with an intelligence level of 3 years or less. Neither the governor nor the citizen are idiots. On this occasion they were both rude.

I think the Gov would have brought something bold to the presidential race.

I agree. If Bucco's information is correct, and it usually is, Brown was speaking as a failed Democratic candidate, not as a veteran.

Based on the tape shown on ABC World News tonight, looked like a case of the Pot calling the Kettle black. A bad show by the Navy Vet and an off the wall reaction by a Governor who should know better.

Why does Gov. Christie have to take the disrespect he was shown. If you ask a question, you listen while the question is answered.

It you're going to shout down the Governor because you really don't want an answer, but just want to "flamethrow", you deserve the "boot" he received.

The patients shouldn't run the asylum.

I did not know he was a vet. Most vets would/should have been more respectful.
That being said I agree with MrMark.

Gov. Christie can be a bit too the point. But I think the Gov. likes a smack down.

Just for the record since all are calling this man who interrupted Gov Christie and got into a word battle of sorts an ex navy seal and also a Rutgers student, is ALSO a Democratic politician who ran unsuccessfully for an assembly seat and has been for a bit a Democratic activist.

To me, anyway, the mental image and the judgement is a bit more in perspective.

With this political history the Governor's ire is totally understandable. My only question is why "idiot" and not the Northern favorite... Moron.

It does change the imagery doesn't it ? It is like the Limbaugh/Fluke thing...once you investigate from where some of these folks come and really hear what they have to say...well, it just changes things a bit.

PS...I do not know but wonder how many media reported this while giggling over the Governor ?

Brown was out of order. Civility under such circumstances is a must. Brown could have made his feelings known in a more appropriate manner and by doing so may have gained some credability.

In turn while I understand the mannr of interaction from folks who live in New York City and New Jersey christie also could have gained much by not using the word idiot and instead made some comment about protocol, etc. What christie ended up doing was attacking the person and not the inappropriate appraoch Brown used.

But again a speaker is under pressure and stress in many of these public appearances trying to provide a solution to such a diverse group and so it is human to error.

Question

President Obama handles hecklers all the time in a civilized way. I missed the whole incident Gov Christie was involved in except for Christie's tirade which was on the news. Regardless of Brown's background, viewers only got to see an arrogant bully. Did Brown call him fatso?
