Default Any one know of Dr. Abrantes?

I'm looking for a good internist and Dr. Abrantes' name came up. Anyone have any advice about her? Would like to find a lady doctor if at all possible.
Thanks.

She's very conservative, can seem a little stand offish, if she was still on my plan I 'd still be going to her.

I have been to her twice and absolutely LOVE her. I did not feel her as stand offish at all. As a matter of fact my husband had a 7 hour visit at T he Villages ER last Monday night due to sudden spike in blood pressure. He had seen a goofy doctor at Leesburg Family Medicine a couple of times. I called that office monday afternoon about the high blood pressure and was rudely told I'd have to take him to an ER as they were about to close! We went to the ER, was treated pretty quickly but did not get to see a doctor until 10 pm at which time the meds had reduced his BP so after a couple of tests he was sent home at midnight and told to see his primary within 3 days. His BP was too high again the next morning and I called his doctor and explained the situation and was told, rudely again, that he could NOT see a doctor for a week! I had an appointment with Dr Abrantes on Wed morning so asked her if she could possibly see my husband. She said, "can you get him here in 2 hours"? I did and although he wasn't keen on seeing a female doctor, she quickly "won him over", gave him meds to control the pressure and has scheduled several tests to try to find out what is causing the spikes! When I called Leesburg Family back to cancel his appointment in April, I told them we had found a new primary doctor and the receptionist giggled and said FINE! I think you'll like Dr Abrantes very much.

My wife and I have her as our family doctor since we came down here from Rochester NY last year. She is OK. I think she is very personable. I do think she needs more experience. She would not hold a candle to our Doctor up north!

Thanks.
Just noticed that you made this OP Carol. Guess you already know how I feel about her! Will be interesting to see how others feel.

Smile Dr. Abrantes

I was also thinking about going to Dr. Abrantes. My endocrinologist from Michigan knew of her from Henry Ford Hospital. I believe she did her internship there. It is good to know that others have had a positive experience.

Default Dr. "A"

My husband and I started to go to her from a friends recommendation. He told us his doctor from the VA clinic goes to her!
We both liked her and found her to be both professional and friendly.

I love her but had started seeing her when she was working for premier. She had a non-compete clause when she took over a practice from a colleague who had passed away. as soon as the 2 years are up we will be at her door!
