Default No current building at Mission Hills?

My husband said someone he played golf with told him all building had stopped at the new area at Morse and 466; Haciendas at Mission Hills.

It sounded like gossip to me and we just drove through there. I don't see any evidence of any new building starts.

Anyone know anything about that? Jane will be there soon, she can tell us at Crispers.

What's one to expect for homes built on what was once marsh land that has been filled to the brink!! Let's see - close to the road, backed up by marsh land and really close to golf cart path and overly priced... Interested buyers should check out the Appraiser's office and check out the soil type on which these expensive villas are built!!! Yes, they're attractive, but would you be wise to buy on that alone. Better check out this neighborhood before you buy....
Maybe gjbl8114's post is the reason why? They may not be building new but completed units are still being offered for sale on the website.

Well Ivy, I don't know who this fella is, but he sounds mean spirited. Imagine if you were Jane or any of the folks who just bought there. There are ways to say things and ways to say things. And he probably doesn't know any more than we do.

I don't know who he is either Gracie, all I was doing was pointing out that someone else had already posed the question prior to your post. And you're right that he doesn't know any more than you or I do, but he is correct with his description of the land. I remember the constant convoys of dump trucks last summer bringing dirt from south of 466A up to this site to fill it in.

If construction has actually been halted (and I have no idea as I have not seen the area), hopefully its for a reason that has nothing to do with potential sinkhole issues. Maybe it's as simple as The Villages found they're not selling as fast as they hoped and there's too much inventory so they're slowing down.

I am looking into it but no responses yet. I am not fearful. Yes we paid too much for the view (by the time we are finished I could have a premier home or close to it); and paid too much for a smaller home because of the view which we are now converting to a bigger home by changing the lanai to a Florida room and added that huge bird cage that we could all live in; and ripped out the new carpet they put in and changed it to wood floors; and, and, and. We bought because we love the spot it is located in, the magnificent view and now the additional view which we did not even know about of Live Oaks Park. I think the chances of a sinkhole are small but we bought insurance. Maybe we will have a hurricane. So many things can happen, we live in Earthquake country now and by the ocean so could have a tsunami. I am a betting woman, take me to othe casino, but I still love my Mission Hills lot, view and new home! We will find out why no more building, but if they stop building, I guess I can turn the empty space into an off leash dog park to complement the no dogs Live Oaks Park! See, everything can have a positive outcome, you just have to look at things in the positive mode!

I was talking to one of the subcontractors last week and he said his company was scheduled to start working in Mission Hills again this week. So far, though, I haven't seen any evidence this has happened. I know, not a lot of help, but at least it sounds like the plans are still on to keep building there.

To quote the text I got from my realtor " I truly do not know what you are referring to. We are selling homes in there every week. What are your concerns"?
So I emailed him back and reiterated the concerns of no building happening. Have not had another reply but sounds like from above and from what he said there are no problems, just a lull before construction picks up again.
Will keep you posted if I hear more, we are doing my walk through Tuesday so I will have time with him to talk.

I never looked into villas as my wife wanted a bigger designer home with a spacious lot, but do they just build all the villas as "spec homes", or do they sell lots, and the buyers get to build the model of villa home they want also.

If the latter is true, that may be a reason.

I think they build the villas and you buy them. I do not know anyone who built their own villa.
