We are considering buying here soon, what's the lowdown on playing here.

I see a zillion courses but how is it getting a tee time?

How far in advance can you sign up?

Are all the 9 holes free and the 18 are extra $$

I've noticed that when this question is asked no one seems to want to give the answer that you are asking. When we are in Fl and mentioning that we may buy at TV, all we here is the fact that tee times are extremely hard to get. Now I don't know if its just AM tee times or all day. My wife and I prefer to play in the afternoon.

Tee times on the executive courses are kind of hard to get during
January, February, and March. You definitely need a resident ID to
get a tee time in those months.

Tee times at the 18-hole courses are not that hard to get. Its
better if you have a resident ID and easier if you dont have a large
group trying to obtain a tee time.

There is priority membership for the 18-hole courses which makes it
easier to get a tee time but it is not worth it financially if you are
only here for 3 months.

There is not a blanket yes or no answer to your question.

I dont play the executive courses very often.
But, I think if you request a tee time in advance through the tee
time system, you will be able to play frequently during the winter months.
You probably wouldnt get a tee time every day, however.

The executive courses are booked solid during the winter months so
morning or afternoon preference doesnt make a big difference.

Executive courses are free to residents.

I don't believe tee times are extremely hard to get, but it's a bit complicated getting a tee time. You don't just call up the course you want to play and say" Hey, I'd like to play about 9:30 tomorrow morning" and they say, "I've a got a 9:42 available".

We have a very efficient [and complicated] tee time system that assigns tee times. I'm not going into how it functions, but that might be what folks were talking about.

Executive courses are free to residents.

Only if you walk the course. Otherwise there is a $3.50 trail fee. An annual trail fee can also be purchased.

We don't play often but have gotten our first choice of tee times on the executive courses this winter.

I just got home from a weeks vacation in the Villages. Each morning I called the course I wanted to play and requested a tee time. The staff employees were courteous and gave me times every day within 30 minutes of my request.

I played both mornings and afternoons. I was a single and played the championship courses paired with a twosome each day. I was amazed that our groups were never held up by the groups in front or pushed by groups behind us. All the people I met were extremly nice to play with.

I fully expected to have trouble getting to play but that was never the case. It was a wonderful vacation and the golf courses were very enjoyable.

I have rented in TV for the last two Januarys. I found the best way for me to get an executive course tee time is to go to the online tee time website. You can select the course you want to play and the site will show you the open tee times for the next three days. Just select the one you want and book it. You have to sign up for TV website and its $8.00 per month, I think. They have an office on the west side of the square at LSL. The country club tee times were plentiful. Be sure to have your Villages ID and golf ID handy. Hit em straight and long.

My husband just moved into our home in November. He has never had a problem getting a tee time as a single.

I come down and visit every two weeks. When I arrive we golf together and we normally have not had a problem getting a tee time.

The only exception was my last visit a couple of weeks ago. The first week we managed to get two tee times (that was all we requested), but the second week we were only able to book one tee time out of three. (We did limit our searches to North of 466 only). We have never tried to get more than two or three tee times a week.

My guess is March is a very busy month. I have been going down to Florida every year since around 1980 and with very few exceptions the weather has been perfect......so I think everyone has the same idea! So no big deal - we just went to Baseline instead and had a great time!
