and I was so surprised that they are hearing this at this time. As someone who thinks this bill is a scourge, despite todays media blitz telling us how wonderful it is, I have been doing some research on the legalities involved at least as much as I could understand. If we have legal folks around please jump in and educate.

My thinking now is that it may be upheld, at least most of it and the only hope is to have a Republican victory in Nov and then again to get control of congress to wipe out this anchor on the country.

I base that on a few things but one that grabbed me was an article TODAY written by a VERY LIBERAL guy.

Seems there is this thing in the law called "stare decisis" which basically means that the judges are "required" to respect past decisions.

There is also what is called the Commerce Clause, which gives the federal government the authority to “regulate commerce.” This is the basis for so much of federal control of our lives...some good and some bad (and that last part is my opinion).

If they rule that this clause is not in play, it will open up cases for so much more including the civil rights act, abortion, etc.

If I have this correct, I would think it may not be overturned and I am open to any critique on this.

But interesting in this article is this particular area...
