Article in todays Daily Sun that Florida governor Scott signed a bill that lifts the ban on the dyeing of bunnies, chicks and other animals. Prio to the ban the dyed animals were sold during Easter and later released and usually died.
So look for the colored animals in a store near you, after July 1

Who says they were thinking? Obviously they weren't.

We had regular colored real chicks....me and Martha Washington. Back when we were kids. Hers died in a few days and so did mine. I think it was Party Politics....but I am not sure which one.

Anyhow, It was sad and bad and not nice.....for the chicks and the kids back then..I much prefer to this day the faux warm fuzzy ones that look real...and the chocolate ones. YUM!

Wonder why THIS happened. There has to be more to the story than that. That would just be plain dumb to pass a bill like that.

I am pretty sure they passed the bill because of the new dog grooming competitions where they are dyeing and clipping the dogs to look like other animals. I don't like it!

If the moms, dads, grandmas and granpas refused to buy these colored bunnies and chicks for their kids and grandkids, the pet stores would not stock them. The kids are not going to be buying them but it is the adults who are the customers - because they think the kids will like them - and they will like them - for a couple of weeks.

Why don't the adults think long-term when buying these animals?

However, this lifting the ban was just ANOTHER one of Goobernator Rick Scott (Gosh, did my hospital consortium actually rip off Medicare?) harebrained (pun intended) ideas.

No thanks. That is one novelty that should stay gone.

I think the reason this bill passed is that it was a very small part of a larger agricultural bill.

Why not start here, shows people you are working for them, repealing old useless regulations. Politicians don't want people thinking they don't do anything so let's look back and find something that seems stupid. Proves we can get the "government" out of your life.

You're right that the bill was just a smaller part of a larger agricultural bill. I agree this is not a good thing, but if you're going to lay blame, blame the bi-partisan legislature first that passed bill 303390 with 109 yeas and only 5 nays. With legislative approval that high, wouldn't the legislature override any veto anyway? Anybody who wants to complain about it? Complain to your legislators where it might do some good!
