Default Lifestyle Visit questions

My wife and I are coming down for our Lifestyle visit 21-25 May and our 19-year old son, home for the summer from college, said he'd like to come along.

We plan on alot of family time together, but I was wondering about the chance of him meeting someone his own age; someone he could hang out with.

Also, which pools can he use? And finally, is there internet access in the Lifestyle visit homes?

Thanks for all the info - we can't wait to get there! Have checked out the webcams and evenings on the square look like alot of fun!

I do know that there is no internet in the villas. Close by wifi at the sales center.

Family pools are at the neighborhood rec centers he can use them with an ID. WIFI at regional rec. centers if you have a laptop. Better check with the sales office they may only give you 2 guest ID's. Let them know there will be 3 in your party.

you may have to pay extra, I think the price is for 2. Even if you get him a guest ID on the Lifestyle you get the guest ID's at the sales center and they are only issued for 1 day.

Default Staying at the villas

I stayed at the villas (Lifestyle Preview) this winter. There were 4 of us - you pay one price for 2, a higher price if you have 3 or 4. We all had guest ID's for all 7 days we were there. There is no Internet in the villas, but as mentioned wi-fi in the sales office, Panera at Lake Sumter landing, Barnes and Noble, etc. There are also free computers you can use at the Savannah Center and I believe at The Villages library.

Being this is an over 55 community...not sure where he'd meet folks his age if he's thinking of "hanging out". He may enjoy it here...or he may not...since we don't "know" your son!

christmas vacation and spring break are the only times there are a lot of kids around here. In the summer it varies, so it will definitely be hit or miss for your son. He should be able to use any pool at 19 but the family pools have the greatest chance of finding other young people.

Adult pools are for over thirty only. I don't know about Sports Pools but a son of a neighbor was questioned by other residents there.

Default 2 things

you must be a resident, or have the $50 resident guest pass, not the regular guest passes, to use the sports pools. Not sure if you also have to be 30 to use them. Call one of the regional rec centers where there are sports pools (Lake Miona, Seabreeze, Colony Cottage, etc).

And I think there are lots of adult children living with their parents here, either going to school, or establishing Florida residency so they can pay in-state tuition a year after they do so, or just young adults who haven't yet flown the nest - it's an expensive world out there today. Lots of kids are living with parents into their twenties.

Talk to some of the servers at restaurants in and around the Villages, or anyone who looks to be under 30. I am sure there are probably some family pools where you are more likely to find young adults who live here, rather than others, but you would probably have to know someone to find out where these are. I saw a group at Chatham family pool at about 6 pm as we were leaving the Amberwood golf course last Friday. Could have been spring break visitors, but there were about 8 or 10 who all looked to be over 18.

Sports pools are for residents only and you do have to be over 30. Over 30 for the neighborhood pools as well. You can go to the family pools (any age).

Default Lifestyle Preview freebies

My wife and I are also doing the LPV toward the end of June. As I understand it, we'll be given IDs so that we can use the pools and go places that the residents go.

Are there any freebies that they usually offer, or that we need to ask about? I'm thinking of free tickets to a show, or dinner, etc.

We just had some people over about a month ago. They got free tickets to a show (although that's not typical), a free championship golf round, a free executive round, free tickets to a movie and a free boat ride. No meals. They also got a golf cart and bicycles to use while here.

Ask your sales agent for a show at Savannah Center. No free dinners.
Free movie ticket, round of championship golf, executive golf. Also tennis and a bucket of balls for the range...
You also get free use of the Fitness center(s)

You won't have to ask they will explain it all. But, it never hurts to ask. All they can say is sorry it's not included.

Have fun and hope you find what you're looking for!! We did!
