I was wondering how many homes have fireplaces to take the chill off in the winter months?

I know this year was warm but other years have seen freezing temps.

If you decide to go with a gas fireplace, you'd need to go with propane on a new build. Some people have a buried propane tank. Some existing areas of homes have natural gas service in place - not available in any of the new build areas for the homes.

tks, I see folks do in fact use them.

I have a Vermont Castings wood unit, that I was thinking of installing.

It really doesn't get cold enough to need a fireplace since the freezes happen around 4:00 am but they are nice to have -- great for decorating at Christmas, cozy up to on a cool night, etc.

In an area like TV that is so densely populated and the houses are close together a wood burning fireplace would be like sticking your neighbors faces in an ash tray.
In my humble opinion. Gas or simulated electric would be better.
