Default Grout Sealing Question

We just finished building in St. James and want to seal the grout before we move in. Would like a recommendation of who to contract with to do the work. Many thanks!

I had heard once that on a new build that you should wait to seal your grout for 1 year because it will void the warranty. It's been a while since I heard this, but worth checking out. Anyone else know if this is true?

Sealing tile can be done yourself, not really a skill.

When we moved into our snowbird home in St. James (11/11) we had some cracks in the grout & called the warranty dept. (first 30 day warranty). Tile setter came in & fixed the problem & he stated to seal the grout YOURSELF & no one can tell! We bought 2 spray cans of product @ Home Depot & did it our selves-Cost $10.00 for 2 cans & still have 1/2 can left!

Default grout sealing

thank you but what is the name of the product you purchased at Home Depot to seal your grout and does it hurt the tile itself if you get some of the spray on it?

they have several choices, I used one with a built in brush top, you can pour it on and wipe it into the grout.

It will get on the tiles but not an issue.

I had a company seal mine, "Dirty Grout Be Gone", they did the entire house which is all tile in every room, warranty against all stains for 10 years. Asked the builder after i closed on my walkthru and it does NOT void the warranty. I had clear applied, but they have a wide selection of color/tints too.

We used Dirty Grout Be Gone last year on our 8 year old pre-owned. Came out great and one year later, still looking fabulous. I admire those of you who are willing to get down on the floor and seal the grout... Just not something I want to do... Thankless work in my opinion - I'd rather be doing anything else.
