Default Wheelchair accessible scenic walks

I am looking for scenic and safe areas in The Villages where I could push someone in a wheelchair so that they may have a nice outing. He needs the outdoors, pretty flowers, nice trees, maybe a view of one of our lakes, but it must be safe for a wheelchair.

I have read about the scenic walk along Wilkerson Creek, but I do not know exactly where that is. We have been to the Wilkerson Creek children's playground, but I am not sure where the walk along the creek is located.

Plus anywhere else that anyone knows about would be terrific. Thanks so much to everyone

and a little PS - thank you to everyone who made our Easter very special. I hope the Easter bunny comes back again next year.

the path is behind the playground. How about the boardwalk at LSL? not sure if you can get to it in a wheelchair. The new park near the bridge on Morse Blvd.

Where exactly is Wilkerson Creek? When I Googled it, it came up in the Panhandle off of I-10. That would seem a bit far to go for a nice scenic outing like you described or in my case a mobility scooter!

It's very nice by Lake Mira Mar right behind La Hacienda Rec Center. If you park behind Church on the Square a wheelchair can go on the cart path to the lake. It's very pretty there and many mornings people are there with remote control boats, lots of birds, ducks, etc...You can also walk over the bridge to La Hacienda. Actually you can also go to the Veteran's Memorial park too.....that whole area is calm, serene , very nice and lots of shady spots.

I believe it is behind the childrens playground in LSL. The creek runs behind Barnes and Noble out to Lake Sumter. I could not find it on any map.

all good suggestions and i'd add the golf cart trail along the freedom point, homewood, side of morse boulevard. , along the pond. or the walking trail in springdale in back of nancy lopez.(although this may be to hilly, if you're pushing a manual chair. basically any pond with a multi-modal(golf cart trail) is accessible

Thanks for your response! I think I know basicly where you're talking about... the canal behind B&N. I saw the water follows for a short distance beyond Old Camp Rd., however I've only been there where Old Mill Run crosses the canal. I still don't know though where the Childrens Playground is. I couldn't detect it on the Google Satellite map I was viewing.

Default Wow - thank you all

What wonderful suggestions, thank you.

I read about the Wilkerson Creek scenic walk in The Villages Recreation Department booklet. It was listed as being close to the children's playground but gave no other information.

I am delighted that we now have several options for outings. It is a very hard transition from a walker to a wheelchair and we are trying to make the best of it for him.

If you were to park behind Sonny's and looked accross the street (south) you would see the playground and a picnic pavillion.

"It" being what?
Have a look at post #9, if you are looking for the creek, childrens playground or the pavillion.

I believe the location on the Google map is where Boogie Shooter is referring to. You can zoom out to get a better perspective on the location.

Playground & Pavillion
