Default Vetting the past??......how about Obama's sordid high school past??

Obama's sordid high school past of habitual drug abuse is a past far more controversial than high school pranks by Gov. Romney.

By his own admission, drugs played a important role in his youth. That and his friendship with communist Frank Marshall Davis, who he hung out with.

The Los Angeles Times reported in 2007 that during his high school days, “he felt the first stirrings of anger toward whites. He says he also delved into black nationalism.” The Times also reported that he was “offended or even enraged when white classmates adopted black street slang or revealed their underlying consciousness of his race by going out of their way to tell him how much they admired a black musician or athlete.”

People wishing to go back in time better realize the can of worms they're opening by going that route.

Does anybody really care what anybody else did 40 years ago as a kid in high school?
If what we did wrong when we were in high school was a filter to rule out being allowed to live in TV......the boundary of TV would still be limited to within the historic area around Orange Blossom hills.

It is just another subject that does NOTHING MORE than generate heat in the hopes of turning a vote.

Cheap/desperate politics by both R and D.

BTK does a good posting here. Does anyone here have a past they would like to have a segment forgotten completely? High school bully, drug abuse during college or in the service, car accident while drunk are all types of things that were common and definitely not a filter to rule out living in The Villages or even things we should purely judge a political figure on now.

Pres. Obama was not an angel during school, I am sure. Mitt Romney was not an angel during school. We know George W. Bush and his wife both had alcohol issues and George W. had drug issues. He was a 2 term president, too.

No need to bring up high school or college by either party. That was a long time ago for them - as for us.

Flashback: Obama
All this stuff was out there, according to your post, and President Obama still won in a landslide victory. Couldn't you find a link to National Enquirer?

I do not know which party Bucco was talking about in his post. I see the title of this thread was "Vetting the past? How about Obama's sordid high school past??"

It was RichieLion - self proclaimed leader of the six-pack - who started this particular post, wasn't it? He is not a hater - just totally misinformed by Fox News - but not a hater.

Personally, BTK had the right idea and that is to concentrate on current issues and not things that happened in high school with either Mitt Romney or Pres. Obama. We have all done things in the past we are not proud of but have evolved into better people.

WHOA....

Last night you posted the following...

"As my wuber friend, RichieLion, would say about this post - just another feeble attempt of trying to divert the question. Sorry, Bucco, it does not fly. Attempt to discredit the President when your candidate has already been totally discredited does not work." POST 37 on MITT ROMNEY thread

At that time you evidently felt that the Romney "news" was very important and that someone had been "totally discredited"

WHICH IS IT ????

What happened over night ?

Only posted this because of the crap going around that made it here about Romney's high school days.

If you want to start that kind of "vetting" you have to be prepared for the revelations of Obama's less than stellar actions in his high school years.

(Buggy, you've got to get over it. It was your BFF, Villager II, who started the 6 Pac garbage and not me. When you have no way to counter what I say you mention FOX News, which I rarely watch, as some sort of pejorative, which is even childish for you.)

I want to join the 6 Pac, please, then we can be a 7 Pac.

Never open a can of worms, they are really, really, really hard to get back in the can and that goes for both the Rs and Ds. Guess that neither one will ever really learn that it is best to leave sleeping dogs lie (lye).

I do not know why you dont report posts like the one aimed at you personally.

To come on here and act as the mature one after posting something completely different about 12 hours previous and mention you by name in both posts even though you were not here is just wrong in my book.

Unlike the leftists on this forum (One childish poster I could name who've I've totally ignored since) I don't report posts directed at me unless they are truly slanderous or threatening.

I think you know, but for those who don't, Buggy is a good friend of mine, if totally misguided politically. He tries to push my buttons here and in person, and we mostly get a laugh out of it. I do the same.

I have to admit that I really dislike his mentioning (accusing??) all the time of the bogus 6Pac and the FOX News thing. This is insulting in that it translates into his oft-stated contention that my thoughts are not my own, but a simple parroting of others.

I'm guessing all Buggy's thoughts are heaven sent, and that he reads nothing, and watches nothing, and observes nothing, and all his thoughts emanate from cosmic rays and unseen emanations from nature.

It was not the 6-PAC but the six-pack to which I was referring. Anyhow, all kidding aside, as BTK stated, there are less than stellar experiences for just about everyone.

High school, college days, armed service time was a long time ago for most of us. Instead of concentrating on the experiences of those times, let's go with the current times and concentrate on them.

Both candidates and parties have a lot of problems and issues that need to be discussed before decisions are reached by the voters. I am not closed minded so I will not listen to the Republicans and as I have said before, depending on who is picked for the Republican VP candidate, just may go that way. It would not be the first time.

I think it has been said many times and many ways that our country needs great leadership. Let's have some compromise and get the best President possible.

My vote also would depend on the debates in the Fall as well as whom Mitt Romney picks for VP. Romney does look like a very shrewd businessman with a record to be proud of in many ways. Right now I would vote for President Barack Obama as I did in 2008. Things can change though.
