Anyone recall what the additional cost that was quoted was on bumping their garage out 4' with the standard (I think18') door but not adding a golf car door?
The other option which I can add later is a bird cage added to the lanai, which comes 16' across and 12' deep, we were thinking about adding a 16x12 cage on. So the existing side wall with the door would move over and 16' front added with screen roof. TV wants to add all the options in bundle and give one total price which is really strange.

I don't know the answer to your question. But, I closed on my home on May 4th and my realtor told me that TV raised their prices 6 percent on May 1st!

We actually want a 4ft side bump to the garage and a 2ft extension of the house itself. I think the side bump made it by about 3 inches on our lot... We want more bumps to the lanai and garage front as well. Our plan is to see if we can sub a new lot when we're ready to build... Our agent priced the house and it was well under our budget. So I didn't insist for a breakdown by each option we added. I heard of about a $5000 increase to the base price but it was reported on TOTV that options were not increased yet. Hope that's true. |

Can you ask your sales rep. for an itemized list so you can decide which option(s) you will go with?

This is not the answer but it is as close to a answer I can provide. It has been three years ago but I recall the villages did want to add up all of our options up and then gave us the total package price also. But I always thought it was because of our request instead of the villages process. When we started our process we gave our realtor a price that was the max we was going to spend and in that had our must haves in order to make a purchase. It was like they wanted to give us the package price instead of priced per option. But I seem to remeber telling my wife each of the bigger options seemed to come out to a additional $5000.00. We went out a additional 4 foot wider and 2 foot deeper on the garage. This came out to a garage that was 24 x 22 without a golf cart garage for a additional $5000.00. We picked a beautiful lot on a pond but it was to narrow for a golf cart garage.

He said they don't do it that way and others said the same.

Jimbo, if you're lucky enough to find a willing (and patient) sales rep, here's what they can do on their computer:
- Start with the base price for the model of home you want - Have them click on one of the bumps you want to add - See what the total price of the home is now There's the cost of that bump. Have them back that one out then go through the same process again, each time with one of those extra options you want. Caveat: Some of those kinds of options can potentially be interrelated - might price out differently if you combine several of them. But at least it gets you a pretty decent ballpark idea of what they'll cost. Bill ![]() |

Bill I already went that route last week that's why I got frustrated, posted here today.
Since then I emailed him and said I'm not coming down until I have some ball park costs of 4 possible options. About 5:30 I received an email telling me he'll have info tomorrow. I know the sales meetings are held every other Friday, I'm expecting this Friday they'll open additional section(s), it's just a hunch with the number of remaining Cottage lots to currently chose from all being premium. If not it will be soon. .

The way to figure out how much each one costs IS to have the whole thing figured and back one out. I don't know why they do it that way but Bill's idea that many are interrelated is a good thought. Bill is usally right.

Of course we all know why they do it. Very smart. They want you to pick what you want which of course will usually be more expensive than the alternative. Once you are vested in your vision of yourself in it, it is much harder to "give it up". If they gave you the price of everything as you went along, the bottom line would be a lot less. Also, people would take a lot longer to make decisions on every little piece of the process so it is expeditious to let everyone get to the check out and take out from the basket rather than stop on the aisle and compare each product.

Ok got some costs, (this is on Cottage) a simple bump to the side 1.5 to 2 car I think it's a 4' extension < $3K, not bad. But it is dependent on the lot width & setbacks therefore, may require a wider lot with a premium. A bump to the front including the front entrance is about $6K, but no lot size issues. He did see anything on the bird cage add on but his guess was $1500. So now knowing that we just need new areas to open up and pick out a lot. Currently 197 in Sanibel is sold out, 180 in Charlotte has about 30 lots from $9,000 to $89,000 premiums .
