I drive a black BMW Z4. It was parked in the north 40 in the Belk shopping center last year. While I was in the store, someone in a golf cart (it was obvious that it was a golf cart) hit it causing $500.00 worth of damage and left without owning up to what he or she did. Does anyone have a clue as to who did it? Whoever it was, shame on you! I work hard for a living. My deductable is $500.00, so I had to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket. If a person can afford a golf cart, then they can afford to pay for their mistakes.

I had the same thing happen to me - Golf Carts are terrible and the drivers think nothing of cutting us off and think they have the right of way. I do not do golf carts. It happens here all the time and I also found out some of the golf carts are not insured.

This happened last year?
Really does not matter if it was a car or golf cart. A majority of people (in my opinion) would not leave a note about damaging your car. I posted about if a golfer would have responsibility (either legal or personal) to offer to pay for a broken window caused by his golf ball. Many repliers said they would not even go to the house and own up to the fact they hit the ball. It is not just a Village issue but in any community across the country. |

Happened to me while eating breakfst at Billy's Cafe. I came out and the side of my car was bashed in. No note and they probably had just eaten themselves.
I cried because it was a new car. Hwy patrol came and said it happens all the time and is very prevalant in Florida. I will now park where no cars are and will walk. No further comments. Cost me $500. deductable. Hope you sleep well. Karma |

Cars bumping other cars and not owning up to it happens everywhere. It's not right, but it happens. I always park as far out as I can away from everything and have found that it works well. Most people don't want to walk that far to get where they are going. I have found that since I moved to Florida, it's more difficult to park way out due to the heat. Up north we didn't have to worry about walking in the high heat because it rarely got above 80! Anyhow, I digress. Sorry for your accident but a thick skin will be an order when driving anywhere. I also see people leave their shopping carts near other cars and when the wind blows.....guess what?? It goes into your car. I don't like it either but it is what it is.

Do they have cameras in the parking lot ? Maybe it can be checked? Yeah people anymore are like that. We just had a big hoopla today with water stealing by construction crews. Yeah I've had those golf carts pull in tight on my vehicle. Come out to find them like that. I will make an inspection before pulling away for any damage, but I'm guessing a cart maybe backed into you? Sounds like good damage
![]() Unfortunately no note, probably not going to hone up to what they did even if they see it here. |

Yeah I hate the cart thing. I actually will grab them if they're near where I park and drag them to cart returns on the way into a store. I mean there is enough cart returns in lots that you don't have to go but a few feet but noooooo ![]() |

Been there, had that happen to a car of mine (in OH) a number of years ago - damage caused by who knows what. Repairs came to around $2k. Some people would leave a note - some wouldn't. I happened to get one of the latter.
I also witnessed a fellow back out of a parking space in a Lowe's parking lot (in OH), popping the car in the parking line behind him pretty good (empty car, customer in the store)......and then he started driving off! Me being not real bright, I walked in front of his car, essentially forcing him to stop (glad he did!). I walked up to his window (female also in the car with him) and asked him if he'd planned to leave them a note about the damage he caused. Then the brow-beating commenced......against ME!! He didn't hit the car.......I was seeing things......I needed to mind my own business - the guy was pretty cranked up, to say the least. I encouraged him to take some deep breaths, come out and look at the damage, and to do the right thing and leave them a note. He did - I even checked the note after he left. I make the rash assumption he didn't come back later to snag the note as I saw him drive out of the lot and down the road. Bill ![]() |
