Thumbs down Lawn Care Contractor

Is anyone else having problems with Bates? After being advised by our landscape firm of infestations of the plants, we gave them two more chances to remove the problems. Instead of treating the "bugs" the second time they told my wife that they put down some fertilizer. She fired them on the spot. Now my problem is getting back the payment that I made for one year to save a few bucks. When called they say supervisor will have to call you. Never happens. Any ideas?

Default we fired them

We gave Bates a year to improve our lawn. After a year it wasn't better. They said our irrigation needed fixing, it didn't. We do our own now with the advice a a frindly master gardener.

Many of us who moved here seven years ago experienced being taken by someone who had us pay $399 for a year in advance for lawn service, came one time and never came back - Seniors vs Crime tried to help but we've never had any results; legal told us that because we had a "receipt" instead of a contract that specified exactly what and how many times any company would do their service, we had no legal recourse. In other words all the receipt did was say we paid for a service, not how many times or any specifics; therefore we paid $399.00 for a one time service. We all learned two things; never accept just a "receipt" instead of a contract with specifics and NEVER PAY IN ADVANCE. We wish you better luck than we had. By the way, Seniors vs Crime told us to ALWAYS check their paperwork on insurance and bond, that often they will tell you they are insured and bonded but when checked means they have insurance and registration on their pickup. If you can't be assured they are bonded and licensed, you may put yourself at risk if they are hurt servicing your property.
