Default Black Panther intimidation?

I just looked at the YouTube video of the two "security" guards at a Philly polling place. They were intimidating white voters? No, I do not think so - you can see white voters coming out of the building. No black person said anything intimidating in the video. According to the Christian Science Monitor, this was the only Black Panther "intimidation" that was reported - I think I read it correctly. One polling place - 2 "security guards" - massive intimidation, I don't think so.

No one's civil rights were violated as far as I can tell.

buggyone: Thank you for validating these allegations. I feel so much better now that you told us that no one's civil rights were violated.

Rubicon, thank you for the sarcasm. You still are not quite there but getting a little better. Stick around and perfect it.

If you noticed, I said, "...as far as I can tell." True, I did see only the one YouTube clip - but did you see anymore than that to show I am wrong? Were there more documented allegations that I missed and you saw? Truly, I would like to know and that is not sarcasm.

On another note, I played Mira Mesa today for the first time since it has been re-done. That is a fun little course - but the yardage markers are inaccurate.

There was no video with the link supplied so here is one or two...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neGbKHyGuHU]"Security" patrols stationed at polling places in Philly - YouTube[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj0gBBmD-Hs]Voter Intimidation in Philadelphia? 11-4-2008 - YouTube[/ame]

And here are a few things from the press...

"The episode—which Bartle Bull, a former civil rights lawyer and publisher of the left-wing Village Voice, calls "the most blatant form of voter intimidation I've ever seen"—began on Election Day 2008. Mr. Bull and others witnessed two Black Panthers in paramilitary garb at a polling place near downtown Philadelphia. (Some of this behavior is on YouTube.)

One of them, they say, brandished a nightstick at the entrance and pointed it at voters and both made racial threats. Mr. Bull says he heard one yell "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker!"

It is ironic that the very Ethnic and Religious background that has taught love, respect and tolerance is what divides us today and causes us fear and distrust because of those very same differences.

Reason I posted this was that someone else in the past few days had listed some of the "crimes" that Eric Holder had let go - and one was dropping any case against the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation. I did not know how many instances there had been so I looked it up on the computer. I only found this one and as I said, it does not look as though it was clear cut intimidation to me - especially with white voters coming out of the polling place.

I was wondering if anyone had anymore instances that I did not find to show wider spread Black Panther intimidation. Since Holder's name was attached, I wanted to see how true this charge was or if it is just more GOP fluff.

I would like to know exactly what thread that was on, because I totally missed a listing of cases that Holder had "let go". It would be a long llist of course as he is attorney general, or was it a list of just racial cases ? In any case, if someone could refer me to that particular thread in the last few days.

This thread did send me out to check out the New Black Panther website and a few other things and this group is scary, at least in my opinion..obviously some do not agree, but I find them so.

buggyone: you and I have not met yet but sometime in the future that will occur but in the meantime understand that I am a live and let live kinda guy. I may not agree but I have always, other than those with extreme rantings, respected the opinion of others. I am also a guy who believes in "old saws" "becaue they succintly state truths. And so I say, "actions speak louder than words" and those new black panthers were in front of that polling locations to do their version of a "meet and greet" as the video clearly depicts.

My game is suffering badly so I am going to take a break and re-group. By the way never played Mira Mesa, in fact I just play Lopez last Thursday for the first time. I gnerally play the courses from Bacall on up. By the way I purchased a Golf Buddy the new small talking version that informs you of distanced from, the front, middle and back of the greens. I love it because it has helped me with proper club selections and also because it can be updated free of charge. Now I need to learn how to play golf. "Hit them on the screws". See another good "old saw".

P.S. You still recognize it as sarcasm.

Personal Best Regards:

Maybe that is because you are not a native Philadelphian who can recognize intimidation when he sees it. Take it from an ex-Germantowner.

congrats on getting outta germantown intact! my great aunt lived there and it used to freak me out to go and visit her. years ago we helped her move to an assisted living complex near us in nj after she was beaten up - we didn't wait for a second event!

in philly or not - i would not venture to enter a polling place with the likes of those two guys in the video out in front!

You mean to tell me that YOU would be scared to go through the doors of a polling precinct if 2 black guys with security patches on their uniforms - and were carrying a night stick - were standing outside, even though you were seeing other white people (my assumption is you are white) going in and coming out unmolested? And that you would go home without voting?

Yes, that is poor grammar but a two part question.

Please do not get me wrong. The New Black Panthers are definitely not good guys. Their advertising a bounty on Zimmerman was 100% wrong and I would call it a criminal action.

I have never heard of Philadelphia being referred to as Germantown.
