Default Romney PAC

From USA Today: Executives at The Villages of Lake Sumter, a Florida retirement community, gave more than $400,000 to the PAC last month.

The owners openly financially support the Republican party and it's candidates for office. The newspaper has Republican editorial slant and a large majority of residents are Republican.

Pretty soon this thread is gonna be moved to political.

I just like to point this out to wannabes that those facts will make them unhappy. It is something to be considered before moving here.

I never know what to make of these kind of posts.

Why would anyone care who the developer gave to in regards to where they retire ?

Did you all check out the companies you worked for to see who they gave to before you accepted a position ?

It makes no sense, to love The Villages but reject it because the developer is a Republican and a rich one, at least to me. I suppose everyone in every city in the country, especially those with only one paper, should consider the bend of their local paper an if it does not fit for them....move away ! Which is an alternative here also if that is a bothersome issue.

I tend to believe it is NOT an issue, but just something else to divide. Have you checked on the restaurants to see who they give to ?

The developer does not allow this to enter into any management of this community...he does not restrict ANY paper from being sold here...he does not only hire entertainers that pass his political litmus test

GRACIE says "I just like to point this out to wannabes that those facts will make them unhappy. It is something to be considered before moving here."

HOW does those facts make you unhappy....and why would anyone because of the facts you talk about make anyone unhappy ?

Now I know why I liked the local paper on the LSV. Sick of the Far Left. Get most of my news from Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and sometimes Mark Levin & Glenn Beck. Also from Drudge and newsmax on-line.

I would think lots of Republicans as who else can affored to live in The Villages. I hope we can sell current house for good profit to be able to afford The Villages, with cost of house and the fees. We should hope the developer keeps building as then he has incentive to keep fees relativly low.

The Villages of Lake-Sumter Counties only gave $400,000 to Mitt, Methinks not, somewhere, somehow more money reached Mitt from The Villages. Perhaps not????

I refused to financially support any candidate unless and until that candidate proves to me my wish list is ging to get attention....and since $400,000 makes a louder statement than a $25.00 donation I figure to use my $25.00 for the lottery because my chances of winning the lottery are better than any candidate of addressing my wish list . I will say that Mitt will come closer to my wish lsit than Obama.

Maybe this time around, Gary Morse can actually get a post office!

Seems kind of stupid to me that the 85,000 Villages residents have to go stand in line at full service post offices in tiny surrounding towns like Oxford, Fruitland Park, Lady Lake, Summerfield, Belleview, Wildwood (3 of 'em), Wiersdale, Ocklawaha, Coleman or even Lake Panasofkee to do their mailing.

The Villages is part of 3 counties. We have post offices in our counties. Do you mean the U.S. Postal Service should open one with golf cart access?

2 days a week the U.S. Postal Service provides us with that at the Sweetbay in LSL. Tuesday's and Thursday's you find a mobile unit parked out front.

main post office on rt 25 and a golf cart accessible sub-station - more good reasons for living in the historic villages!

Thanks for your response.....dont know much about the Minn or Wisc papers, but am aware of the rest. You probably would like the NY Times...I do but I think what I do differently, maybe not of you, but I double check each and every story that grabs my attention..it is amazing what part of stories are left out, implied or out of context, not to mention the story not covered. Sort of like Political speeches. If I read something in a left leaning paper, I will check the same story with a right leaning paper and vice versa !

I am sort of a news junkie and my question was not being a wise guy, but honest inquiry. Thanks for the reply...adding the Minn Tribune and Wisconsin State Journal to my NEWSPAPER favorites and will give them a try !
