Closing on our new home in Sanibel next week and need to hire someone to mow our lawn. We are not going to be there full time, so need someone reliable that will show up and take care of it. Any recommendations?

I would check out a few references in person, before contracting with anyone. I just had our current lawn mowing service owner come out to discuss how it looks just after a mowing. There are lots of scalping marks, and weed trimmer circles in our lawn. The take-away from the conversation was that this is the best that they can do with a riding mower since the homes have very little room between them for the large mowers to maneuver. When I asked about using a push mower, I was told that my lawn would be dead in 2 years due to thatch build up. I now need to decide if I want to buy a mower, and weed trimmer, to do the lawn cutting myself, or find another lawn service.

We, and a number of our neighbors, have used Dawn & Joe Baker for over 5 years including before we had moved here full-time. They mow, trim, and blow weekly throughout the year, are totally reliable, and not overly costly. Not sure of their schedule but they mow us on Monday and our out of town friends in Hadley on Friday.

Has anyone used Deans Servicesfor lawn mowing and maintenance? If so, do they do a good job - do they use riding or walk behind mowers? Thanks! Lark

Call Stellar, U will be impressed with them. They use PUSH & mulching mowers.
I'm a snow bird & I have them for outside bugs & fertilization & it cost me $45.00 per mo. for a 6 mo. contract for lawn cutting. PLUS they are a TOTV SPONSOR!

Welcome to The Villages. After having experienced some of the worst lawn and garden contractors one can imagine, we finally found Tri-County Landscape. We are snowbirds and they take care of everything for us. We have used them for several years and trust them unquestionably. 352-399-2647. Their prices are extremely competitive. Good luck.

I have used Tri County for my lawn and have very pleased. We are not full time yet, so we need someone reliable, and they have fit the bill!

Yes, Stellar has been taking care of my lawn for about a year and I'm quite satisfied. They do use walk-behind mowers.

I have a patio villa in Fernandina and won't be here full time either. I just want the lawn mowed (no fertilizer, no pest control, etc.). Does anyone pay a lower price than $40 a month and then you're compelled to sign a yearly contract? Please let me hear if there's someone out there that has a better rate.

YES and double yes. I live in Sanibel as well and used three different services and happy with Dustin Lorusso (Central FL Lawn Solutions). He also does curbing and landscaping. He did my landscaping and very HAPPY! 352-303-7145. Tell him Joyce Beeman recommended him.

Sevans Lawn & Landscape, Kurtus Sommer owner, 352/516-7100. Have found them to be very reliable and reasonable. They can just mow or do full service; no annual contract.
