Default Ah yes. The round abouts.

There will soon be a dog poop thread. Things must be back to normal.

To make it simple, a roundabout functions pretty much like a regular intersection, except it is in the shape of a circle. In other words - you make a right turn from the right lane. You go straight in either lane, and you turn left from the left lane. Hope this helps.

Pass it around!!!

I believe all the new roundabout signage is up. It's now pretty darned clear of what you can and can't do.......legally. As justjim stated: "Be alert" - don't assume others will do as they should.

Forget about the signs. What we need is dashboard decals.

The correct answer to the question is yes, but only if you are going straight through or 270 degrees around. The second and third exit from your entrance position. As stated above treat it exactly like a four lane intersection. If you wanted to make a right turn you would always enter the intersection in the right lane. If you wanted to make a left turn you would always enter in the left lane. If you wanted to go straight through either lane would work.

However even with the new signs that very clearly show the correct way to drive through a round about, I still see idiots go 3/4 the way around staying in the right outside lane. They will cause an accident and wonder why it happened. And also argue that what they did was OK.

If you're going to take the 'exit' that's 270 degrees around the circle - that's what people are considering a "left hand turn". It's 'left' based on your direction when you enter the circle.

The correct info is in the POA paper. Don't say making a right turn but say leaving the roundabout. If u leave the roundabout on the very first exit then u should be in the right lane. If u exit after that then u should be in the left lane. If u get into an accident and it is between vehicles in left lane and right lane then according to SCSO the vehicle in the right lane is always at fault.

If you would read the entire post and not take stuff out of context the left turn description was for a four lane intersection, not a traffic circle.
