Default car rental

I will be staying in our new home in Fernandina a few extra days after my husband drives home and would like to rent a car. The prices I found for car rentals in TV were very high. Suggestions where to go to for a cheaper car rental deal? thanks.

Sara, does Enterprise rent cars in TV? They are usually cheaper than Hertz or Avis.

You usually get a better rate on line than going directly to the office. My son worked for Enterprise and gave me that tip.

We recently had problems with our car and needed a rental for a couple of days. We rented from Enterprise right here in Spanish Springs. We are members of AAA and the cost was $35 per day which I thought was very reasonable. We also want a rental to drive north for a vacation and they will work with you on price for longer rental periods.

I had mentioned earlier that my son worked for Enterprise and that he told me that you get a better rate on line. I just checked on line for a one day rental at Sumter Landing for an econcomy car is $44.99, however if you go to the Bellview Enterprise it is only $19.99 per day. Enterprise will pick you up and drop you off (not sure if they will from Bellview, but worth a try). It's 11 miles to Bellview from the Villages.

Villageshooter, Actually, I am a walker, but I can't figure out how to carry all the stuff for a brand new home in my backpack. Would be ok with golf cart, however, same problem.

Enterprise is at Lake Sumter Landing and Hertz is at Spanish Spring. They both will do courtesy pickups.

I used Hertz recently and it worked out great. I got the car when I flew into Orlando on a Sunday, used it on Monday for a trip to Ocala and then returned the car in TV! Hertz took us to our rental villa when we were done with the car. He wouldn't even take a tip!

I originally was going to take the Airport Shuttle to TV and rent a car from Enterprise for my trip to Ocala. But Enterprise is closed in TV on Sunday and they weren't open early enough on Monday. It ended up being cheaper to rent the car at the airport instead of taking the Airport Shuttle and also renting a car!

I found it cheaper to book both companies online. You can get AAA discounts but, I got it even cheaper through a Hertz special! I think AARP might also offer discounts on rental cars.

I have always found the best values in other places (not TV) at Hertz with discount coupons found everywhere or at Budget and both using AARP discounts over AAA.

If I correctly understand, DH is taking the car and leaving you behind for a while, later you are also going to join him. If you are flying home, then it would make sense to rent from the airport of your departure flight and have him drive you to the airport as he leaves town. I checked priceline and they have rentals for as little as 11/d plus fees which brings it up to 18/d.That is for a four day Mond to Fri rental (july 16 to 20 If you name your own price you can likely get it down to 2/3 of that cost If it is weekends it might be cheaper
