Default weather mapping

with the advent of hurricane irene last year, a fellow started a facebook page that keep more than 5,100 of us in the jersey shore area current on all weather conditions. one of the great tools he uses is weather mapping from Weather Forecast & Reports - Long Range & Local | Wunderground | Weather Underground. the link for the villages/florida is: WunderMap® | Interactive Weather Map and Radar | Weather Underground

in the menu to the right of the map you might want to uncheck 'weather stations' to eliminate the 'temperature/wind' icons - i find them annoying - except if/when i need to see them - then i click on 'weather stations' and 'temp/wind'! in the menu section 'radar' you can click on the 'storm tracks' option if you see severe storms in the area - it will show you a cone shape that indicates the direction of the severe weather in 20/40/60 min increments.

and if you go to the left and click on the zoom icon you can take the view all the way down to street level! you can find out if it is raining at the square you do not live near! anyway, you can slide the map in any direction by left clicking on the map and dragging the map or by using the directions icon above the zoom icon.

with the wicked summer storms we have been experiencing i am finding this site very informative and helpful. just thought i'd share it with my totv buds for your info.

nechfalcon68 - we are much further north - close to monmouth park race track and not far from asbury park. our property is somewhat above sea level and back from the beach and 20 yrs ago we had all the trees taken down and replaced with dwarf versions - so there is not much that we have to fret about.

but in our area there are towns where residents frequently have to move their vehicles to higher ground in the event of severe weather - especially when the tides combine with the storm and the ocean meets the bay!

guess you might have left because of hurricane irene? locals are beginning to talk about an anniversary party here! any reason, eh?
