Almost time for Willard to reveal his choice for VP - assuming he has already made the decision.
Is it a woman? He needs a female on the ticket. Is it a hispanic? He needs a hispanic on the ticket. Is it a hispanic woman? Has Martinez been vetted? Is it a tea person? He needs to appease that group. Is it a person from a swing state? Ohio and Florida are the two largest swing states in play and Obama is leading in both states. Pundits are saying Portman - a "safe" white guy. |

Seven speakers for the RNC were announced on Monday. They are Gov Rick Scott, most unpopular governor in the country; Senator John McCain; Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee; SC Gov Nikki Haley; OH Gov John Kasich; NM Gov Susana Martinez and Former Sec of State Condoleeza Rice.
Unless the Romney campaign is throwing us a ringer, we can eliminate Martinez, Haley and Rice. That leaves Sen Rob Portman (R-OH), Sen Marco Rubio (R-FL), Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI), and Former Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) as the most speculated candidates. I'll stick with my original choice of Portman who might help Romney with 1% to 2% vote in Ohio, which Romney desperately needs to win. The big question is: will Sarah Palin be invited to speak at the convention and what time slot will she be allotted? |

Neither George W Bush, George HW Bush, nor Dick Cheney will be attending the convention. Cheney declined because he is going fishing.

You won't see the VP pick until the GOP Convention at the earliest I'm thinking.
It's not important to reveal it now will the Obama team reeling in disarray, and so no real strategic advantage would be gained. |

Good safe picks for Romney are Pawlenty or Portman. Riskier but still good are Ryan or Rubio. He will not do a stupid thing this time and pick some reactionary wing nut.

It was reported on MSNBC tonight that Senator Rob Portman had four times as many revisions made to his wikipedia account today than his closest competitor. It seems that in 2008, Sarah Palin also had numerous revisions the day before she became the nominee.
