When you meet someone new, what do you notice.....their stature, their looks, their voice?
For me it's their voice. Generally I don't forget a voice. A name is a different story, but voices, I remember. What about you? It's a rainy day and while watching a movie with Alan Rickman I realized that though I admire his acting skills, it's his voice that I am drawn to. |

I get worse with remembering people's names as time goes on. I always remember things about them, not so much things about them as a person - more like where they've lived, what they've done or are doing currently......stuff like that.
Most people tell me they remember my voice. Guess it's kind of distinctive, perhaps. Guess I shouldn't try to hold up any banks or anything......... ![]() Bill ![]() |

Suppose it is the voice with me too that I remember; if I hear it, that is. After that, I suppose the face.
Never been that good at remembering names. |

I tend to remember faces better than names, and agree now that you mention it Pooh, that voices are often memorable.
People in TV remember me by my accent, y'all. ![]()

I think I tend to remember people by their overall demeanor. In other words, if they seem open and friendly, and really interested in what I have to say. The biggest turn-off is people who seem to want to tell me about themselves, but have no interest in my thoughts or my story. Also, people who cannot make eye contact or seem to be preoccupied are a turn off.

I usually remember names before I remember faces, especially if I meet them in a context like a party. I may see them the next day and not remember their faces but if we start talking again and they mention something that triggers a conversation I usually can pull up the name. I tend to remember people by the energy they emit and the way they interact. I am drawn to people who seem to be enjoying life and engage in interesting conversation. Also love wit and repartee. That is always memorable.

Their hands. Not the nails or details but how much or little they talk with their hands. Hands are really interesting when you start to focus on them.
I'm pretty good with voices in that I'll know I've talked to that person before but I won't always recognize who they are by voice. As I've mentioned previously, I'm one of those unfortunates who has little to no facial recognition. However, if you have really expressive or very still hands, odds are I will recognize you immediately.

It's funny you ask this. I have a not so common dog breed and people in my neighborhood remember my dog's names and recognize me by seeing them. I stop and chat with peopke and they enjoy petting the dogs. On rare days I walk without them and say hi to these same people they look at me like they have no idea who I am and I know in truth, they don't. So apparently when people meet me they only remember the dogs. More than once I've had to say "I'm Luca and Mishka's mom" to get a look of recognitition. It's not doing much for my ego.
