Default Hardwood Floor

Anyone else have a complaint about the installation of their hand scraped hardwood floor. Ours was installed with defective end boards and each joint is uneven. We also have a hollow sounding board right where we walk and a black spot on the board in the center of the room. The trim pieces between the floor and the tile are flat pieces of rough plywood. The installation is nothing like the floor in the model. An independent inspector has confirmed our complaint but Mohawk and The Floor Shoppe are not taking responsibility, except for the hollow board and black spot. We will be going to a "higher authority" for resolution to our satisfaction.
Our advice - don't ever let them go to closing if the floor is not right. When you have your walk-through you are just told to note what you find wrong but once you close it is not easy to get such a serious complaint rectified.

I say just keep talking (nicely) to warranty. Warranty is the means to get it fixed, not the people who installed it but basically the people who make the choices for which contractor that will be used. Those flooring people don't want to lose their contract with The Villages for sure. The conversation needs to be with warranty. They hold the power and they will see it fixed.

If satisfaction from warranty is not forthcoming, a nudge from your sales rep should help.
