I have an 09 Yamaha gas /curtis cab. How long should a gas cart last? Also it is going in for its last oil change and check up while still under warranty. Is there anything special I should have them check out? Should mention I have put over 7200 miles on it. Thanks!!

The word "last" is very important. Even though you put lots of miles on, if you maintain it well and don't abuse it, your cart should last for many years. You can replace everything mechanical, including the engine, for a fraction of the cost of a new cart. You can even have the entire cart rebuilt and repainted for a lot less than buying new. It's kinda like high quality carpeting, you'll probably get tired of it way before wearing it out.

Given proper care and maintenance, you'll probably want to buy something different before you'll wear it out!

Given the number of miles you're driving your cart, you might consider installing an hour meter or a speedometer (with an odometer feature). That way you can have the maintenance done based on the actual usage of the cart rather than the "once a year" method.

Thank you for the answers! I do have a speedometer/odometer on it. After how many miles of use should I have my oil changed then?

I have my eye on new cart with the adjustable seats- guess I am trying to justify it!

For typical use, the recommendation is every 12 months. Many cart service shops will offer an "annual tuneup" for about $70 which will include the oil change.

Good question. Maybe we could get some posts as to the length of time you keep your new cart, if it was electric or gas, and the reason you got ride of it - worn out or just wanted a new one. If a gas cart and you had engine trouble mention if you used it year round or left it sit for a few months. I think the ethanol in gas could increase maintenance problems.

For gas carts, using a stabilizer product like Sta-bil protects engine parts from the negative effects of ethanol. Use a cap full with every fill up.

Do you know you can get luxurious, custom made adjustable bucket seats, in any color combination for about $1400? Yes, not cheap, but a lot less than buying a new cart. Check out Ultimate Seats in Ohio on the internet. There is a dealer in TV.

There's a recent thread here called Ultimate Golf Seating. They now advertise here. It shows their products and gives a toll-free contact number. I called them a while ago to ask your question. They gave me the name of a nearby 'off campus' dealer. Darned if I can remember it.
