College Says 'Men at Work' Sign is Sexist - Diversity - Fox Nation
College Says 'Men at Work' Sign is Sexist
An Ohio community college forced a construction crew to remove its “Men Working” sign after the sign was deemed sexist and non-inclusive by a college administrator.
The construction crew at Sinclair Community College was forced to stop working until the sign had been removed.
A spokesman for the college told Fox News that they have a deep commitment to diversity and take it quite seriously.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG is right.

I believe in equal rights for all people but sometimes things are just a little too "politically correct". I guess they have to put a sign that reads, "work area".

Hey 2BNTV like your sig says, It doesn't cost anything to be nice. Nor does it cost anything to not offend 1/2 of your workforce, or whatever percent. I haven't seen a "Men working" sign in years. I thought every business had gotten the memo. Sometimes being "politically correct" is really just being correct. This action by the college was a result of a complaint about the sign. It was fixed and I think the company will get it right in the future.

What if there were no women in the work crew? Would the sign not be correct in that instance?

1/2 of a workplace never has been offended by labels in use for hundreds of years. Mainstream media and a few screaming meemees con everybody into thinking these are real issues. In fact those that believe these "politically correct" issues are valid are simply focusing on make believe issues because that is much easier than dealing with real life issues.

I've always thought that if construction workers concerned themselves with PC issues, they'd be really offended by this:

Whether we agree or not with what has evolved into something called "political correctness" (which if i had to give it a name I would have called it "social correctness" since in reality there's nothing "political" about the issue itself), what is the big deal with the sign reading "work area" rather than "men working"? Is there something wrong with "flight attendant" (versus "stewardess"), "letter carrier" (rather than "mailman"), "firefighter" (as opposed to "fireman")? Really, what is the big deal?

My wife and two daughters all have professional careers so I get it. Its not political, but it would be correct to say Work Area.

Citing Fox as a news source speaks volumes to the mindset of people. However, if this particular article is indeed true, which may be a first for Fox, the answer to your question is yes, these are exactly the people I want teaching my grandchildren, particularly my two grandaughers.

Interesting that all but one of the complainers appear to be men. And congrats to the men with a more balanced perspective. How could you know what it feels like to be on the "other end" of this particular form of discrimination? The sign is just a symptom of the mindset. I agree with the others that see it as a step forward in supporting the daughters and grandaughters of the future.
