Default Beware posting on Craigs List

Posted a vehicle for sale on CraigsList. Got a buyer that said he was paying through paypal. He also wanted us to send some money to a person to come and transport the vehicle. He was also adding the money to the sale price. Got several emails from paypal giving us instructions to pay the person for the transporting and then the money would be released into our paypal account. Long story short this is a scam. The paypal emails look very official. Don't be fooled. Lucky for us we got suspicious before we sent the money. Paypal is working on this scam to stop it.

I get a lot of that when I put things on Craigslist. I pretty much recognize them right away and I don't even respond to them.

Good post, ddavis. Anytime someone's asking you to send money to someone else as part of a transaction, your radar should go up.

I can't remember the last time I sold anything where I accepted anything other than cash from a private individual. Too easy to create fraudulent computer printed checks nowadays. If someone wants to pay by check, we go together to their bank and get it cashed out so I leave with money in hand.

A Google search of Craigs List scams will bring up a lot of examples. Best advice; be careful.
