I saw it in someone's yard and wondered why it isn't used more for hedging? According to what I read, it grows up to 9 ft, long blooming, and is not susceptible to disease. Any comments would be appreciated. I would like to use it to hide the electric equipment in the back which I would like around 5 ft high.

You may like to give it a try, especially if your area is somewhat protected. Thryallis might be a little cold sensitive and will easily brake if ice settles on it, but it will come back.

Don't forget to read the restrictions on the electrical boxes about leaving access. Every once in awhile they come around and have you remove anything that is planted too close. Happened in Pennecamp last summer.

Yes. I plan to leave the access on the golf course side versus the house side

Not that I know of, and we bought in 2006. We get hard frosts some years, suppose that could cause some plants to break off? Not sure. Last winter, not even a hard frost and so far this year, only 2 light ones earlier in December.

It has been known to dip to the low 30's and if the sprinkler system runs in the early morning, there could be problems. It has been warmer last two winters. Best is not to water on days with frost predicted.
