I heard that we can golf the Champain Courses for FREE on Christmas day. Is this true?

Yes -
no trail fee no guest passes required. Just - wait in line not sure if it'll work like years past but at mallory for instance, 18 holes played at caroline & virginia; 9 holes played at amelia.
