Default Total loss flood vehicles in New York

This is an abandoned runway in New York serving as a temporary salvage location for flood cars. Zoom it to 200% to get another feel for the mass of cars. This is one ins, companies temp lot.
It is a PDF file that will open up. you will need the zoom.

Yes that is Calverton airport it was a Navy facility for all the planes thru the Vietnam war.

After that the Navy donated the land to the town of Riverhead.

I left NY on the 27th of Nov and drove past it, it look like a sea of glass from all windshields, at that time there were 9,000.

I be there in a few days back for Christmas and take a look.

In NJ they are using the drag strip at Englishtown Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township to store cars.

Now just think how many of those will be sent out of state and have the titles "adjusted" and sold as a reliable used car even though they have been totaled.

Interesting....I have been in the market for a "new to me", pre-owned car, and as I have googled my model of choice recently, I have seen more than a normal number based in NJ. I did think of that, since I used to live on an island, and we were always skeptical of cars coming out of FL, after a major storm.

Bought my "new" car today, and it came from right here in TV!!

Make sure to get the CarFax if you buy a used car in the future

There are so many cars at the old Grumman plant in Calverton, NY. The tractor trailers carrying the destroyed cars are non stop. I am curious about what they will do with all the cars, especially the gas tanks, oil and other fluids.
