Default A different kind of total knee replacement?

My husband and I have 4 knees that need to be replaced. We were told recently that there is a surgeon in Orlando who is performing a different type of replacement, making a side instead of a frontal incision. The theory is that recovery time is much faster and there is substantially less discomfort involved because major muscles aren't cut. We have spoken to one person who had this done and swears by it. Does anyone out there have information about this replacement technique? I believe the prosthesis used is called The Freedom Knee. I can't help but wonder if this is such a miracle, why aren't the more prolific knee surgeons in the area (Dr. Duke, Dr. Kerina, Dr. Locker) using it? Thanks for any info anyone might have.

Because there are more criteria to be met to do the less invasive surgery. I think it has to do with the amount of damage, your weight and other factors that most people needing knee replacement don't meet. Same thing with the new total hip replacement.

Don't care what approach they use I want to know how many they have done and the average time to complete the procedure. My husband worked with two guys for 20 years average time for a knee 46 minutes' of course my husband just did his 11,042 joint this month. Yep that's alot sorry we are up north but when it comes time to have my knee done it will be this doctor.
