Default Air Conditioner

When we had our air conditioner serviced we were told not to run the air conditioner if the temp outside is 65 or lower. He said it would compromise the compresser. Is this the real deal.

Because you manually switch it to the cool side when the spouse says it is too hot in the house.

It sounds like your adviser was not very clear.

I would advise getting clearer info from a service provider. Maybe there is something unique about your system.

In general,if your home is heated by gas there is no need to run the A/C below 65. If it is heated by a heat pump then your compressor is that heat pump so must run in order to heat your home.

I have found a lot service techs are a fund of misinformation. I get contradictory information from them frequently.

Get a second opinion. Be careful of info in this forum. There is a lot of contradictory and erroneous information here.
