Default Winner - 2012 Person Of The Year

The Brave Heroes of the Sandy Hook Elementary School per the New York Daily News. I thought it was a nicely written article. Enjoy.

Good article. They look like mostly New Yorkers or people close to New York City with those nominated for this. I usually put more faith in people who struggle for a very long time against tremendous odds like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, Elie Weisel, etc. Someone just acting through an adrenalin rush to save people they love is more about just acting on your instincts.

T I happen to agree with you. It was not lost on me that this was a nice gesture. However it appears Americans have become far too reactive. My preference is reason over emotions.

Wow! People actually dissenting on the DN acclimation of those teachers, as if there is something unheroic about giving your life to save others, especially innocent children. Those of you who adhere to scriptual admonitions should read the part about no greater gift than giving your life for others. Shame on you!

I agree wholeheartedly. After all that has been said & written about all aspects of the Newtown shootings, I had yet to see anything disparaging the heroics of the brave teachers who gave their lives.

Never expected to see it, and am even more shocked to see it here.

The New York Daily News has their heroes and to be sure, the Newtown teachers are heroes.

However, on a national level, Gallup poll selected Pres. Obama as the most admired man of the year and Secretary Clinton as the most admired woman of the year.
Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton Again Top Most Admired List

There is no disparaging of the heroics of the brave teachers here. I just said that someone else is more worthy of the Person of the Year label than someone who is acting very courageously in a moment of crisis. That person is not just acting on emotions of love like the woman who picks up the car off her offspring. She is acting for love of her child and an adrenalin rush. Not really out of any rational approach to her not being able to move a car by herself. A mighty feat yes. As were those of the teachers at Newtown.

This woman Lauren Kornacki pulled a ton and a half car off her father. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/0...save-his-life/ Super human feat.

Pres. Obama, and H. Clinton, I have to agree. Person of the Year. Excellent jobs for both this year.
