There was a long line of golf carts on a path and I wondered why. Seems that the lead car was going around 5 mph. After everyone managed to pass I saw what seemed to be a 10 year old girl driving. Is this allowed. There was an adult in the cart.

As far as I know it is allowed but I totally disagreed with this!!
I feel the age should be over 18 to drive a golf cart, not 14. Kids are 14, in my opinion, are not mature enough to drive a golf cart Just saying.... |

14 is the age! BUT some grandparents don't seem to think that they need to follow this law! There is ALWAYS an article in The Daily Sun telling what the laws and rules are in golf-cart driving just before the holidays but is usually repeated throughout the year.

From the 2nd paragraph of http://www.districtgov.org/community...rtBrochure.pdf :
"...........the (golf cart) driver must be over 14 years of age." Bill ![]() |

I also have seen way too many of these "grandparents" either thinking it is cute, it is ok if they are with them, feel they need to spoil the kids since they don't see them often, or the kids cry and whine to drive it and the parents/ grandparents give in. I think one kid couldn't have been 10. Most i would say are 12-14 driving that shouldn't be. What are they going to do when these kids loose control and cause an accident, injury, or property damage? When they get sued and lose everything all we will hear is I didn't think it could hurt. Funny they are willing to risk it all. Scary what else they let these "gifted" kids do.

I usually find an area where construction is going on and let them drive, with me there.
Sorry guys, the girls are better drivers. The boys all act like it's a go-cart and think they're ready to go to LSL.

Every one should read the stats on accidents related to golf carts in the Villages. That would make an adult think before they let a child drive a golf cart.

A week or two ago we were out and about when we saw a "grandma" with a boy of about 3 sitting on her lap while she was driving her golf-cart! Or maybe she was letting him steer...couldn't tell for sure. Regardless, THIS too looked to be an "accident waiting to happen".
