Hi, wondering if anyone in the area goes to Zumba classes...I really can't dance but it sounds like fun. Renting Mar and Apr. Thanks.

go alone if you can't find anyone to go with. Lots of people do. You will find that if you start going regularly, and just start a conversation while you're waiting for it to start, that you may meet lots of nice people. Make a point of seeking out others who are there alone. There's a lot of down time here waiting for popular activities (like exercise classes) to start, but you have to get there early - usually half hour or even 45 minutes - to get a spot.

A good way of forcing yourself to get out there is to say to yourself, "What's the worst that could happen"? Usually, it's that no one seems that interested in talking back. If you can live with that, you're home free. Tuck a book or newspaper in your bag just in case, and next time, try placing yourself on another side of the room where there might be friendlier people and keep trying.

I know that it is easier for outgoing people to do this, but if you force yourself - probably more than once, for many activities - you will likely have a more fun visit.

Opening gambits include things like where are they from, what do they like to do here, are they renters or owners, full-time or seasonal, etc. You will find people here who seem to have no interest in anyone else and those who are the opposite. And also remind yourself that some people are just shy.

The 1:30 pm Monday Zumba class at Odell is friendly. PM me when you get here. I travel some but do lots of fitness classes when I'm here.

Frannie, it will be good to see you again! You don't have to be able to dance, just move around a bit! Some Zumba instructors offer much easier classes than others. I've found the Zumba gold/gold classes are a bit slower.

Don't forget the Loonies and Toonies (for Canadians) when you're here. First Wednesday of the month at LaHacienda.
