Hello all. I've read some past posts on Pergolas, so I thought I'd post some pics of the new Pergola I just built and installed. It is all vinyl, about 10' by 12'.
First we ripped up the old 12' x 12' patio that was cracked, etc and poured a new 600 sq ft new patio. I then built the Pergola. The next phase I'll start soon is I'll apply a translucent colored acid stain and sealer to the patio to add color and protect the concrete. Then off of the back of the house I'll build a new 24' x 14' roofed and screened in lanai. Here is a "before" picture; ![]() Here are "after" pictures so far..... ![]() ![]() Before anyone asks, yes I did have our HOA's approval and did get building permits... The main reason I installed the Pergola is to keep out the afternoon sun from the two windows.....it has worked out great, and we really like it. I checked all over the internet and got the best price for the Pergola through Costco. The Pergola came from New England Arbors. I did the install myself of course. Frank

Yes, I did the Pergola myself. It took a bit of measuring, etc because it came stock as a 12' x 12' that I converted to a custom size to fit in the inside corner.
The concrete patio was done by Keeton concrete as part of a bigger project which involved a new patio, new garage slab for a new garage, new huge 34' wide driveway and new front walkway. All together we poured 34 cubic yards of concrete. Rick and his crew did a wonderful job. I RARELY endorse contractors, but Rick Keeton is the only concrete company I'd ever use. Perhaps sometime I'll post pics of the driveway/walkway/garage portion of the remodel if anyone is interested. I hope I did not infer I did the concrete myself.....I wanted to of course as I am not used to hiring out any part of my projects, but I needed heavy equipment for the demo portion, and 34 yards including two footers, close to 2,000 sq ft of flatwork was a bit much for me.....especially between inspections..... Frank

Did you have any problem getting the permits. Did the building dept tell you how they wanted it installed ? what was the cost from costco and how much were the permits ? Thanks for the info.UOTE=faithfulfrank;608095]My son photoshopped some better looking grass around the new patio....wish it was that easy and fast in real life!

Thank you for the kind words. It was a fun project.
I had no problem getting ARC approval here in The Plantation. This was just a small part of our bigger project which involved demolishing and taking away our existing concrete driveway, walkway and rear patio and pouring new concrete for a bigger driveway and new 2nd garage along with a new bigger patio for a new lanai and a larger front curved walkway. The building permits included all of that and the building of the new garage, which is my next project. The cost at Costco for the Pergola was $979.00 Adding the post brackets, wood and extra shade slats brought the complete cost of the pergola to just under $1500. I posted about this because awhile ago some of the good folks here were asking about Pergolas and one person was discussing the Pergola he had installed. Frank

Looks beautiful. I would also like a pergola, but not sure my husbands back could handle the DIY, and to have it done is very costly. I'm sure you will enjoy it!
