Default How to view negatives

I have several hundred negatives from the 40's and 50's that I would like to view. Most of them are family stuff and were in Mom's things. Is there any way to view them or scan them? Holding them up to the light just isn't working. Thanks !

I thought this was another cheerful self-help thread!

A moderately priced scanner will include a film and slide adapter and work just fine. A carousel will not work with larger size negatives like 120/620, etc. Viewing old negatives is easy, getting them printed is another matter. Kind of hard to give a 1.2.3 process and be all inclusive as it is a very task specific matter. The short answer was on target, but not an easy topic to include a tutorial on this type of social media. There are also ads in the Sun from firms that do this for a living and deal with all of the variables. I do my own, but I have the equipment and software and spent many years in the photography business. Depends on how many, eventual needs, viewing or printing, etc, etc.........
