Default Cable Companies & Internet - seems to be a hot topic at times!

We are new, have bought but not fully moved in yet (May/June timeframe) in Glenbrook. I have been reading some of the posts regarding cable companies, etc. It doesn't really seem there are too many favorable posts for any of them (few exceptions here and there).

We will need cable and internet service, thinking about just cell phones only. What are the thoughts out there on services. I don't think Brighthouse is available in my area yet. Also, previous owners must have had DirectTV because dishes are outside.

We have Cox at home here in VA and it is very reliable. Any suggestions or thoughts are always appreciated!

I would stay away from Century Link. We replaced Direct with Prism and, unfortunately, we have had nothing but freeze and snapping issues. Their Techs have been here five and tomorrow will make six times. We have been given reasons from software issues in the CL Prism systems to router/wireless issues. I never have gotten mad. I just tell them that it either gets fixed or we go to Comcast where it all started. During the tornado, Comcast never went off the air but unfortunately their Service degraded..now, I understand it is much better. Direct used to freeze during storms. Prism promised the world and hasn't delivered yet. Hopefully, this will fix it...

Thanks for the info, I just wish I could take Cox with me. Had a problem here yesterday and the tech was here for over an hour and all over the yard/street to find my problem (and in the pouring rain - I felt so bad for the guy!). Found it and made sure every room with cable was working and traced problems all through the attic.

Good luck with yours, hope it gets fixed soon!

OP I recommend you go with Comcasf for Your services. And its not because Comcast is "perfect" but given the options Comcast is currently your best overall option. IMHO

We have been here since June 12 and have Comcast. I think the prices are high, but I do have to say their service is very reliable (I am am not talking about customer service, but the signal that comes into our home). Think we have only been out for a short time once and am amazed at the stability of the internet connection. Have been doing some shopping to see if Dish or Direct could offer a better package, but doesn't look that way. So we'll stay with Comcast until something better comes along.

Thanks, that may be the ticket. I have also heard all kinds of things about how the weather (storms, rain, wind, etc.) affect the dish.
