Just moved here, Great place. Need some major help. I have a benefit from my company which allows my wife to get $80.00 a month worth of Major Medical Health Insurance. She currently has a group plan but the money can not be used on a group plan. The money is suppose to be used for a Medicare Supplement but she is only 58. If we can not find a plan we will lose the benefit permanently. We have called the major providers like Blue Cross, United Health care, and Optima with no luck.
If anyone has a secondary supplementalal plan which will help please advise. Any major medical plan will work. Thanks, George And Debbie |

You don't say if you live full-time or parttime. If you live in The Villages, you can go to their insurance office as they can give you the information that you're looking for. There is an office in Lake Sumter next to the furniture store and also one in Colony.

We just moved here full time. Can you tell me the name of the place you are talking about?

If your wife has a group plan, be sure you know what the cost is and what the deductible, co-pays and coverages are. It may not be worth $80/month to give that up if she is only 58. Know how long she is eligible for her group plan.
Write down any questions you can think of when you talk to the healthcare insurance sales people - some are better than others. Present some "what if" scenarios and be sure you completely understand the answers. In 2014, I believe, is when healthcare companies can no longer charge more for pre-existing conditions, but not in 2013. Someone correct if I'm wrong about this. I currently pay $341/mo. for an Aetna/AARP plan (which is technically a group plan - membership in AARP required), but have a $5,000 deductible, $7,500 out of pocket max annually. Not an HSA plan, co-pays for doctor visits and prescriptions. No pre-existing conditions. It is age and community-banded. I think the age band is 60-64. Florida was higher cost than it would have been had we been Ohio residents still for the same policy. My premium actually went down last year by about $80, not sure why. Friends of mine in Ohio, same age band, pay about the same for a BC/BS $7500 annual deductible HSA plan. Unfortunately, the husband had kidney stones a couple of months ago, and the outpatient charges were at least $7,500. |

Thanks for the info. We are actually looking for a secondary major medical plan but it seems since she is 58 it is very hard to find.
Anyone have a secondary plan and not currently on Medicare? |

I don't know anyone not on Medicare who has more than one plan. Maybe I'm not understanding you.
As far as I know, a private health care or a group plan does cover Major Medical. |
