Default Verizon Store - 441

Just a heads up to those of you who experience a problem with your cell phone - call tech support before heading to the store for help. My cell phone crashed last weekend, so I stopped by the store to see if they could help. They told me my phone had died and I needed a new one (phone is 18 months old). They also couldn't give me an earlier upgrade to a new phone, so I spoke with a customer service rep who helped me pick one out. Then the wait for 3 days for it to arrive.
In the meantime, I got thinking that if this is what I can look forward to with another smart phone, I needed to get the broken one repaired so I had it on hand for future problems. I found an on-line chat support for Motorola - within 3 minutes, my phone was working just fine. Seriously?
I called Verizon's support line and told them what was going on and that I didn't want the phone that was about to be delivered to me. They said - simply refuse it (which we did). I complained to them about their lack of tech support at the store. They said it's now a 50/50 chance of getting help in the store, but on-line help would have fixed my phone in the same time.
I'm not sure if the guy at the store thought I was just too old to do the fix (which was simple) or if they were just too lazy on a Saturday morning, but lesson learned for me.

Cool

I've been to that Verizon store several times and I have to agree with the 50/50 comment. There are a couple good, knowledgable people working there that can truly help. However, I have had folks treat me pretty badly. Worse part, in most cases they just didn't know what they were doing or talking about.

You're almost always better off calling Verizon support. You might wait a bit, but your chances of getting someone knowledgable is much greater.

Posting on this forum is good way to get phone advise... Plus, we know how to use Google too...
