There's a front page article in The Daily Sun about taking care of your pet.
One thing that's mentioned is properly securing your pet in your vehicle. I haven't read the whole article yet but I wonder about all the pets I see in golf carts that are not secured properly. People probably think it's not a big deal because they only go 19 miles per hour. But that's all it takes.

Many years ago I saw a dog go flying through a windshield. A truck (truck #1) stopped on hwy 301. He stopped on the pavement for some reason. A pick-up truck behind him (truck #2) didn't see him stop. Finally, when he saw truck #1 ahead, he slammed on his brakes. He almost stopped in time but not quite. He might have only been going about 15 miles per hour at the point of impact but it was enough to send his dog (like a rocket) through the front windshield.

His dog went clear over truck #1 and landed about 25 feet in front of it. It didn't even look like a dog anymore. It looked like a pile of meat.

The impact was not that great because neither driver was hurt. But that's all it took for the dog to go through the windshield.

Your post made me think about what I saw last week on Morse Blvd. I had to look twice because I saw an Alaskan Huskie's head popping out of the driver's side floor on a cart. His head was sticking out most the way taking in the breeze !

First off, how did the driver even have room to work the pedals? And secondly in a sudden stop, the dog's momentum would probably push your foot off the brake and maybe onto the accelerator. A accident just waiting to happen.

What are these people thinking?

My Cocker is in a basket in our cart and secured so he can't jump. We also keep the rear drop down cover down so the temptation isn't there.

I can't believe the way some people treat their carts like toys when it comes to safety. They either drive with their dogs on their laps or, even worse, a toddler grandchild!!
