I have searched the previous threads and learned a lot. However, my question is about the Kinetico system. I have seen posts that it costs as much as 4 times as other types.

I would like to hear from anybody who has had it installed. Does it perform as advertized?
Is it as costly as has been posted?

There is no doubt the water here is very high in minerals and chlorine in our home. The spotting on shower glass is almost like etched in. The build up around faucets and tile is ridiculous. And compared to other places we have lived the water is extremely "hard".

I am interested in learning from actual Kinetico owners.

WOW!!!!!Nobody in TV on TOTV has a kinetico water system. Now that IS unusual. Or just do not post on TOTV.

Is this kinetico system the one that uses salt? We don't have any system in our home for water filtration but my sister and BIL have the system that uses salt. If that is the system you are referring to, I can ask them about their system and post a response for you.

the system advertizes using potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride.
Whole house....no electricity...no sodium.

BTK - we have a Kinetico water softening system. Yes, it does cost more than most others, but there are no electrical hook-ups and it does not recycle at any particular time. It operates on volume of water used. Supposed to recycle or recharge or cleanse or whatevr it is called after a certain number of gallons have gone through the system. Ours has 2 cylinders and switches from one to the other. When one is going through the cleansing cycle the system switches to the other cylinder. When that cylinder needs cycling, it switches back to the first cylinder. It does use sodium chloride, but I suppose you could use potassium chloride instead. It has a prefilter to pick up sediment. When we first had it installed, we had some problems with iron/rust spots on white clothes, but that seems to have cleared up, since we seem to have all the residue flushed from the lines now. My wife didn't care much for it at first, but I think she has gotten used to it now. I have removed the filter from the refrigerator and now use water from the faucet for making coffee and tea instead of from the refrigerator. The nicest thing about the system is you never have to turn off the timer or adjust for DST. It is strictly based on volume. If you don't use water, it doesn't cycle. Just went to their website and read the whole thing. Really sounds good but, 4 times the price of other systems? I have been looking at the Whirlpool water system as well. No filters involved there as the system automatically flushes the setiment automatically when it fills up.

I'll be curious to hear others talk about the Kinetico system that they have.

We just had Kileys plumbing install a simple filter system($395.00 installed) and we immediately noticed the chlorine taste and smell disappeared. Our faucets no longer stain and I can now taste my vodka and tonic due to "clean" ice.
There are two filters that need to be changed a few times a year depending on usage. They cost $30 a change out.
