After too much debate, hubbie and I have decided to build a Premier home, but on an interior lot. We just love that darn Seabrook and decided to go with the home vs. a Designer home on a dynamite, golf front lot.

Question ~~ What can we do, with the HOA's blessing, to achieve privacy at the edge of our back yard (we will have another home directly behind us). Are we going to be allowed to plant decent sized trees or is that a big NO NO? I know that fences are NOT allowed (except on CYV's), so any advice on what you have seen / experienced on other interior lots, to achieve privacy would be great to hear.

So excited to get out of CA and get moved in June to The Villages!

We have a Seabrook on an interior lot just a little over a year old and the most amazing large landscaping came with it . We are screened from our nice neighbors behind us and they from us, with equally large bushes that came with their house.

We planted a row of bottlebrush behind the master bedroom window and they are growing very fast. I think that the rule is that they should be kept at six feet, but I have seen some mighty tall Bottlebrush around.

The bushes and plants that came with our house are amazing.

You can ask the landscaper who did the original landscaping to add more or find another landscaper. There are lots of landscapers around here for sure. There are all kinds of easy tricks for screening with bushes and trees that are allowed by the Architechural Review Committee. This place REALLY is too good to be true.

We love our house. I know you will too.

You might want to consider calling Village Landscaping and speaking with Mark Olsen, Sr. They specialize in privacy landscaping. They did my place on an interior lot and I'm amazed at how private they make my lanai. Seriously, they really know what they are doing with this stuff. You can reach them at 352-409-2655. You won't be sorry!

Love Village Palms on 466 on the right before Rolling Acres Rd. Walk around their nursery and they have unique ideas.

Jamie's landscaping put 8-10 foot sugar palms behind my house. Tropical and beautiful. We had only 20 feet between us and the house behind us. Privacy achieved.

Grandscapes did a great job for us....I said I never wanted a "kissing lanai" but with we have almost total privacy because of wonderful landscaping. They offer great suggestions and very reasonable pricing.

Since we are a family of 2 + 2 pugs (my hubbie and I have 2 pugs and my parents have 2 pugs), I LOVE your TOTV handle!

Thank you for the info on Grandscapes. Good to know. I am holding my breath to find out what the developer will want for an upgraded landscape package...should be good for a laugh or two.

Our very nice landscaping was part of the Premier package. You are gonna be so happy with what you get even without upgrading.


I keep saying.....You won't believe how incredibly good the building experience is.

Just wait and see and forgive me in advance for telling you, "I told you so".

There are alot of shrubs, trees, etc that will fill your requirements. Before you visit a landscaper, you may want to consider the maintanance characteristics of what you plant. Will it be a formal hedge, or a natural design? Will you hire the trimming or self maintain? You can go online and check out some possiblities for growth habit; viburnum, podocarpus, east palatka holly, suger palm, juniper varieties, bottlebrush, ligustrum, etc.
