Default Solar-assisted golf cart

Jimbo,

What does your "solar-assisted" golf cart idea encompass:

a) A solar panel covering the entire golf cart roof.

b) A solar panel on just part of the golf cart top.

c) Something else? If so, please state.

Gene, the roofs on carts vary in size somewhat, but in general cover most of the roof, we're trying to get as much wattage as we can to catch the sun.

they do not overhang the edges.

To give you an idea the current panels I have are 35"x52"x2"

Now these are solid tempered glass panels in aluminum frames but only weigh 30 lbs. (they are not the thin flexible stick on type)

Is that the info U were looking for?

I have 195-240 watt panels the manufacturers vary depending on application.

Please understand the system doesn't depend on the panel its ability to charge correctly is engineered into the charge controller.

I can use two panels with an extended roof having 300-350 watts and go over 100 miles, but is that much range really needed.

this size will get you at least 70 miles.

This controller is designed by a very close friend who did the solar electrical engineering and we have applied for a patent.

Therefore, that info is proprietary.

I'll be happy to speak to anyone for more info just PM me.

Or I can add your name to our mailing list, for more info.

My prototype cart is here, just has to put back together after breaking it down to ship here, but with the delays in ARC & building permits around here my home improvements are 3 weeks behind schedule, for the moment that has the priority.

Jimbo,

Thanks for your info. Many of us here are looking forward to your upcoming success report on local, solar-assisted golf carts.

Please finish your TV backyard "green floor" so you can shift time to your TV golf cart "green roof."

Go, Jimbo, go!!
