Can someone please explain how the transfer of an owners ID to a renter works? I know the fee is $50. What is the process and how does the renter get the ID? Thanks.

I am a renter with an ID... The Real Estate I worked with sent my paperwork to the Villages Main Office in Sumter Landing and they issued me the pass. I believe each rental has their own passes. One person rents one pass, two people rent equals 2 passes...

Did you pick up the pass at the Sumter Landing main office?

There is a form you have to fill out and you get that at the sales office in Spanish Springs. Fill it out and turn the form in at the Spanish Springs office, not LSL, along with the $50 fee. They process it and the renter can pick up the form at LSL sales office.
If you call the Villages main number and ask for the ID processing office, they will transfer you and the lady there can e-mail you the form to print and complete. Then you could mail it back or take it there in person. This must be done a minimum of 3 days before new tenant arrives to pick up ID's. And you cannot pick up there ID's. Guess it's the Villages way to forces new people to visit the sales office.

You have to turn in your IDs at the Spanish Springs office for the period the renters are here. You can pick it up any time after they leave. Brenda and Margie have the whole process down to a fine art and will happily walk you through the procedures.
So, the steps are: 1. Fill out form. 2. Turn in form to SS. 3. Turn in homeowner ID cards (if you're up north and need the new ID cards now, talk to Brenda, she can probably arrange something so that you can mail her the ID cards). 4. Pay $50 (renters can actually pay this when they pick up their ID cards at LSL). To be on the safe side, it doesn't hurt to fill out the form authorizing someone that is in TV to be your representative in case something goes wrong with the ID card process. Checks have been known to get lost in the mail, last-second rentals happen. That way, your rep can fill out the forms and do the necessary if there is a time crunch.
