Default Golf at Palmetto

The Buttonwood Ladies group, finally got to play nine holes over at the new Executive course which runs alongside 466a. We juuuuuuust managed to get all 9 holes in, when the heavens opened with torrents of rain. The course is already very attractive, and I can only imagine how lovely it will look in a year from now. I could not resist taking this photo of a magnificient tree, outlined against the incoming rain clouds.

There's a story about that tree. The second hole was originally to be a par 4, but the tree would have been a significant obstruction to the second shot. And they also loved the tree and didn't want to think about taking it down. So they changed the design of the second hole to a par 3. That left a lot of land between the road and the second tee which they converted into practice areas for chipping and pitching. Nice.

Thanks for the wonderful information.
I wondered why there was such a long distance (and for me a walk) to get to the second hole.
I agree that the course is beautiful and would play it more often if I could get tee times....

omigosh. If only I could paint the way you take pictures. You are just amazing. This picture is just exquisite, Sandra.

I would love to have it blown up BIG and hung somewhere in my house.

You have such an eye for design, the storm behind it makes it even more dramatic.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Every one of the pictures you take and post on here is so outstanding.
