Default Pick up nails and staples on your walk please

Hi All,
I live in an area under construction and have found many staples and nails in the road while walking my dog. Just thought I'd mention this as we can all help prevent flat tires simply by picking them up.
thanks,
Kitty, who had 2 flats recently from nails

There is someone to call, but I don't know how or who, I imagine Bogie Shooter will weigh in, he always has the right links...

When our village was in the building mode, at intervals, and I don't know how that was determined, there was a truck that had a low magnetic bar attached to the front that would "sweep" the streets and pick up nails and stuff. BUT we still had a few flats among us.

So there is something that can be done.

This happens all around TV and not just the new construction areas. On a walk from Sea Breeze to Lake Miona via Bailey Trail I picked up 14 nails, screws and other objects that could easily puncture a car tire and also a golf cart tire. On another walk I picked up about 26 nails, dry wall screws, roofing nails in one intersection along 466a.

Another place where I noticed a number of nails and screws was the major intersections such as 466a and Morse and Buena Vista. There is always a section near the right turn lane and the intersection where trash seems to accumulate. One day while waiting to make a right turn I took a good look at the stuff in that section and saw a large number of screws and nails. I did place a phone call to TV but never noticed that it was cleaned up.

Gracie as far as Neighborhood Watch trucks driving around with the magnets I think may be a thing of the past once an area is developed. I did not see one of these trucks during bird season. Also some of the junk I picked up was not steel so the magnet would not pick it up.

and isn't it a disappointment that among all of the junk you see and pick up - there is never any money mixed in with it!?!

I did pick up a few bucks in change during bird season not to mention a few hundred golf balls.

Thank-you for this suggestion Kitty. It is a good one!
