O.K., got to do it. This is going to offend, so I will apologize up front. Last night, there was some intentional pot stirring...not cool.

Gee-Wiz-Thank-you for the apology. Not needed, I had given you a "pass". I too have some very serious medical issues (something no one in their early 50s should go through) and sometimes I can get sarcastic too...And I have to laugh a lot. But, you know what? Your sweet, kind side is going to take you a lot farther down the road of finding that Mrs. Gee-Wiz. And I think that is the side that a lot of people on this board seem to respect about you.

Kate Rogers started a thread that led to a very nice person inviting us to her house to meet up. It was disrespectful to Kitty or anyone else in The Villages for anyone to hijack that thread and start talking vulgarities, and I am certain she is going to be kind enough and nice enough to say it is all OK. But it is not. No class...not to mention tasteless. If you want to talk about STDs and if you are concerned that your behaviors might make you susceptible, please start a new thread. That way those of us that don't want to talk about it don't have to.

Let's talk cougars, dirty old men, nurses and purses. I am the only person with a hand on my purse, I don't have anything to do with dirty old men, I have a lot of college but I am not a nurse, and being a cougar would mean dating a friend of my children...that is distasteful to me. BTW, no man has ever treated me with anything but respect here in The Villages or anywhere else for that matter so the nurses and purses thing is disrespectful to all men in general.

And one more thing, if you don't live here, you have no right disrespecting the citizens of this Community. We tend to stick together.

OK. I am off my Soap Box and this is my last post. If you would like to have one of those intellectual and philosophical discussions about any of the above topics, here is the thread to do it. Knock yourself out. Please keep the other thread open so Kitty can plan her party.

BTW...life is short and precious. Something's are just not worth talking about. Today is Mothers Day. Hug and talk to your human and furry children.

Katie - thanks for the pass. I just responded to a pm on the issue. I knew when it was raised (STDs) that it was going to get fairly thick...hence the joke - and it was a one line joke.

Single life here is odd...it can be full of care but, it can also be predatory. We all want the same thing...someone to enjoy these autumn days with..a good companion

Frankly, I'm debating whether I should attend the soiree... I tend to keep my dating out of TV and it is my nature to be a bit too frank here on TOTV even though I often use veiled language.

Whether I attend or not - I wish you all nothing but the best. Find love - life is too short not to.

Thank you for your comments Katie, I understand your reaction as an effort to keep the community clean and I appreciate your courage in taking a stand.
On the other hand, as a social worker (retired), I think it's healthy for folks to talk about what bothers them as a way of huddling together against a pesky, undeserved reputation.

Diane, It's all OK. I'm sorry Katie was upset. I only wish you could come to the party, so we'll have another one after you get here! I am totally ok with your comments and everyone else's. I hope you will continue to feel free to post your concerns in a genuine and honest way...it's the only way I know to connect with others in a way that isn't shallow and walking on eggs. I want to be in a community of singles who are tolerant and open.

To accept an apology, then regurgitate the perceived offenses to further justify your position, only serves to allow you to vent some more.... looks bad, is unnecessary at this point and conveys the notion that you feel additional 'enlightenment' is your due to continue to dole out to the penitent, until you are done.

I probably did not adequately address this, I wanted Gee Wiz to know that no apology was necessary...I think he is a good guy looking for love which I hope he finds.

We had trolling going on last night that was taking over a very positive thread that was a good thing.

My point...it is OK to talk about anything you want to...just don't steal another's thread to do it....start your own. Was hoping the Singles Thread would never turn into a "popcorn thread", but it did.

I am in the process of trying to figure out how to contact the moderator/owner so I can be completely erased from this board, in total.

Although I made light of it, being called a Harpie or Harpy was one step too far. For those that are unaware, a harpy is a vile, very very ugly female animal who is evil and usually preys on men.

This is an example of why the Internet can be dangerous. And please take note, I have learned my lesson.

Oh the drama. If anyone wants to be erased from this board all you need to do is don't go there. Don't login, don't read it, don't comment. IMO, if this or any board causes aggravation and hurt just give it up.

Of all the boards that I have read, participated in or moderated over the years this board is the mildest. IMO, it's a bit over-moderated but hey, it's their business, not mine.
