I am going to try to get directv. If anybody is a current subscriber and want to give me their account number, we each can get a 100 credit. Figure it is worth doing for the both of us. Thanks.

What Internet service do you combine with Directv? I have heard Centurylink is not that good

I had DTV in Texas and lost signal with every rain storm. Looking at the frequent rain in Fl, do you loose signal frequently or have they improved in that area?

I've had Directv since 2008, that includes the last two years in TV. I wouldn't have any other service. If you lose your signal because of rain, go to your channel guide and bring up 'all channels'. If you're watching TNT on channel 245 for example, you will now see two channel 245's, select the non-HD version. 99% of the time you will be able to receive the channel unless it's a monsoon downpour. Usually within ten minutes you can go back to the HD version. For that small inconvenience I will stay with Directv. If you're an NFL fan, you can watch any game with NFL Sunday Ticket, otherwise in this area you'll be watch the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Bucs.

As for the other question, with Directv I have Century Link. I have 10mpbs internet to the curb, that's with no modem, my router plugs directly into the outlet. For telephone I have unlimited free long distance, caller ID and call block. Total for both is $59.99 but with tax it comes to $75.25 per month. I've never had an internet outage or telephone outrage. Usually when I run an internet test the speed is usually clocked somewhere between 8.0mbps and 9.9mbps.

I just did a test, 8.11mbps

Last Result:
Download Speed: 8114 kbps (1014.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 756 kbps (94.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 75 ms

I have Century Link for my internet and Direct TV. Recently switched from Comcast because the price in the first year was getting out of control. Internet was a little on and off the first few days but has settled down and works pretty good. I don't believe it is as stable as Comcast was, but I'm not paying as much and since I'm not engaged in rocket science here it is not an issue.

When I called Comcast to tell them to disconnect 'cause I was switching service all of a sudden they had the deal of a lifetime to offer me. I don't like doing business with someone that only wants to give me a fair price is pushed to do so. Direct is locked in for 2 years and then we'll see what happens price wise.

We have DirecTV and use Comcast cable for internet. It's faster and cheaper than Century Link if you get a promotional deal, which you probably can if you ask.

I have same as Hoosier. Works best for me for quality if reception, channel choices, and $ cost.

I really like my centurylink dsl! When my trial price was up my bill went from $45 to $75. I called them and told them I couldn't pay the $75 for just Internet and they said, "ok, we'll put you back at $45". Can't get better than that!
